The confederate flag's red background represents the blood of Christ, the white border represents the protection of God, the blue X represents the cross Saint Andrew (the patron saint of Scotland and one of Jesus's first disciples) was martyred on. The 13 stars represented the 13 secessionist states.
So the flag we are told is racist actually meant, "Through the blood of Christ and the protection of God, We are united in our Christian fight for liberty." Is this the history that is so desperately trying to be erased? Why did HK Edgerton, a black man, walk across the south carrying the rebel flag, trying to help people remember their sovereign heritage?
