A very brave man who left his truck with his hands up and trudged through the deep snow to draw fire away from the other innocents in his truck. They then shot him dead. I wonder if the video is still up.
@26:00 Discovered two additional shots into the truck fired BEFORE the three shots into Finicum. Unknown to Oregon State Troopers and Oregon AG, there were TWO FBI HRT agents who fired into the stopped truck. The FBI tried to hide this during the initial investigation and the FBI and DoJ would not comment as the "matter is still under investigation"
So:
– Three (3) shots were fired into the oncoming vehicle by Idaho State Police and the vehicle stopped
– Two shots were fired into the STOPPED vehicle by two (2) FBI HRT agents. Unclear whether these shots were fired before or after Finicum exited vehicle
– Finicum exited the stopped truck with arms up but appeared to attempt to reach into his left inside jacket pocket with his right hand. It is unclear whether the two (2) FBI agents had fired into the vehicle yet
– Despite making these "furtive" movements Finicum never pulled a handgun before he was shot
– The Oregon State Police finally fired three (3) shots into Finicum at which point Finicum fell face forward
– A loaded handgun was found inside Finicum's jacket or right side shoulder holster
– The FBI field agents at the scene did NOT disclose that the two HRT agents had fired ANY shots during the incident
– The FBI later admitted that its HRT in fact fired the two shots but would not comment further as the matter (then) was still under internal investigation
What likely happened is that the two hidden FBI HRT agents fired shots into the parked vehicle in order to panic Finicum into drawing his weapon in defense of the vehicle occupants and himself. A drawn handgun would have led to immediate fire by the Oregon State Police.
Despite the provocation, Finicum maintained discipline and NEVER drew out his handgun.
I'm now going to dig and attempt to find status of the "ongoing investigation" into shots fired by FBI HRT agents at the scene.
