Attorney General William P. Barr Announces Launch of Operation Legend

Today, Attorney General William P. Barr announced the launch of Operation Legend, a sustained, systematic and coordinated law enforcement initiative across all federal law enforcement agencies working in conjunction with state and local law enforcement officials to fight the sudden surge of violent crime, beginning in Kansas City, MO. Operation Legend was created as a result of President Trump’s promise to assist America’s cities that are plagued by recent violence. Operation Legend is named after four-year-old LeGend Taliferro, who was shot and killed while he slept early in the morning of June 29 in Kansas City, the latest in a string violence to plague Kansas City in recent weeks. Kansas City has already reached 100 homicides this year, a 40 percent increase from last year.

“President Trump has made clear: the federal government stands ready and willing to assist any of our state and local law enforcement partners across the nation responding to violent crime. Operation Legend will combine federal and local resources to combat the disturbing uptick in violence by surging federal agents and other federal assets into cities like Kansas City, a city currently experiencing its worst homicide rate in its history,” said Attorney General Barr. “The Department’s Operation Legend is named in honor of one of Kansas City’s youngest victims, four-year old LeGend Taliferro who was shot in the face while sleeping in his bed. LeGend’s death is a horrifying reminder that violent crime left unchecked is a threat to us all and cannot be allowed to continue.”

As part of Operation Legend, Attorney General Barr directed federal agents from the FBI, U.S. Marshal Service, DEA and ATF to surge resources to Kansas City in the coming weeks to help state and local officials fight the surge of violent crime. They will be working alongside state and local law enforcement agencies. Department of Justice assets will include over 100 FBI agents, U.S. Marshals, DEA agents, and ATF agents. In addition, Timothy A. Garrison, U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Missouri will be surging additional resources from his office to ensure he is able to handle an anticipated increase in prosecutions.

Beto: "Texas GOP is a death cult"

Beto got his ass handed to him by Ted Cruz and then couldn’t break out of a 20+ person Democrat field filled with jackals and psychopaths, but MSNBC was more than happy to give him a platform to spew his insane view of modern America.

House Dems announce vote to remove Confederate statues, fail to mention 9 of 11 honor Democrats

A bust of Chief Justice Roger Taney, a registered Democrat who wrote the majority opinion in the Dred Scott case of 1857, would also be removed.

House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer said the House is voting Wednesday on legislation that would remove Confederate statues — nine of which commemorate members of the Democratic Party — from the Capitol, as well as a bust of a Supreme Court justice, who was a registered Democrat. House Democratic leaders held a press conference about the legislation and the history of the Confederacy on Wednesday but did not mention the party affiliation of the individuals that the statues and the bust honor. The statues that would be removed from the Capitol Building include Edmund Kirby Smith and Robert E. Lee, who did not have a documented political affiliation, according to historical accounts. Lee reportedly joined Democrats in opposition to Republicans who "demanded punitive measures against the South" during Reconstruction. The rest of the Confederates that the statues honor were Democrats.

Chief Justice Roger Taney, a Federalist who registered as a Democrat in 1828, wrote the majority opinion in the Dred Scott decision of 1857, which ruled that Americans of African descent, whether enslaved or free, were not U.S. citizens. Taney was not a Confederate, but a bust of him would also be removed from the Capitol as part of the legislation. California Democratic Rep. Karen Bass, chair of the Congressional Black Caucus, suggested that the Confederate statues could be moved to the jail in the basement of the Capitol Building. "Their role in history should be remembered, but it should be accurately told so individuals like these never rise to powerful positions in our nation again," she said.

Hoyer told reporters that the legislation, if signed into law, would "relegate the statues to history but not to honor." "I hope it will pass in an overwhelmingly bipartisan fashion," he said. House Majority Whip James Clyburn said statues of Confederates in public places should be moved to a museum. He had a direct message for those who argue that the public statues should stay in place because they are part of history. "Hate is a heritage," he said. Hoyer explained that a process would be put in place to determine the exact location of each statue if the legislation becomes law. "These statues are part of our history," Hoyer said. "We cannot deny our history. In fact, if we deny our history, it has been said we are condemned to relive our history, so we'll have a process that needs to be pursued."

BOMBSHELL ADMISSION: Chinese State Media Claims Coronavirus Is A Tool To ‘Beat’ Trump

Chinese state media has admitted it views the novel coronavirus as a tool to “beat” President Trump, confirming the Trump administration’s insistence China has sought political gain from the virus.

China Global Television Network (CGTN) issued a nearly six-minute video entitled “Can COVID-19 beat populism?” in which the Chinese Communist Party-run network leverages the coronavirus as “another straw on the camel’s back to expose [Trump’s] hollow politics.” In addition to attacking President Trump, the video also went after China-skeptic political leaders such as Brazil’s Jair Bolsonaro and Britain’s Boris Johnson.

The video confirms Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s insistence that China has leveraged coronavirus to its benefit. The Mail reports that Sec. Pompeo “used a visit to London to outline a vision for a global coalition to counter the communist regime as he accused its leadership of exploiting the coronavirus pandemic to further its own interests.” While President Trump’s actions on coronavirus were certainly not “hollow”, moving to suspend travel from China in January, CGTN insisted the virus was a “test” that “most of the populist leaders have failed.” CGTN is keen on politicizing coronavirus, insisting its silver lining is that “more people are beginning to realize that their populist rhetoric is nothing but empty promises.”

“Populist leaders like U.S. President Donald Trump are good at whipping up populist sentiment. They look strong. They promise they can “get things done.” They are “experts” at manipulating people’s feelings. But here’s the twist: They are incompetent at solving real threats and problems,” the video added. The video answers its own question, whether or not coronavirus “can beat populism,” with a resounding yes, and revels in the conclusion.

Trump to 'surge' federal agents to Chicago, other cities, amid spike in violent crime

The surge of agents to Chicago and other American cities is part of Operation Legend

President Trump is deploying 100 federal agents to Chicago to help combat rising rates of some crimes – a move that marks an expansion of the White House’s intervention into local law enforcement as Trump continues to position himself as the “law and order” president. The "surge" of agents announced on Wednesday to Chicago and other American cities is part of Operation Legend – named after 4-year-old LeGend Taliferro, who was fatally shot while sleeping in a Kansas City apartment late last month – and comes as federal law enforcement officers have already descended on Portland, Ore. and Kansas City, Mo. '“The effort to shut down police in their own communities has led to a shocking explosion of shootings, killing, violence, murders,” Trump said during a speech in the White House’s East Room. “This rampage of violence shocks the conscience of our nation and we will not stand by and watch it happen.”'

While sending federal agents to aid local law enforcement is not unprecedented – Attorney General Bill Barr announced a similar surge effort in December for seven cities that had seen spiking violence – the type of federal agent being sent, and some of their tactics, have raised concerns among state and local lawmakers. Usually, the Justice Department sends agents under its own umbrella, like agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives or the Drug Enforcement Agency. But this surge effort will include Department of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) officers, who generally conduct drug trafficking and child exploitation investigations. A number of lawmakers from New York to Portland have spoken out against the Trump administration sending the agents to their cities, especially following reports that unidentified federal agents detained protesters in Portland and took them away in unmarked vehicles. Portland has been hit with near-daily demonstrations against police brutality and systemic racism since the death of George Floyd while in Minneapolis police custody on May 25.

Local authorities also have complained the surges have only exacerbated tensions, and criminal justice experts say the efforts defy explanation because of the unprecedented moment America is living through — with a pandemic, historic unemployment and a mass reckoning over racism and how people of color are treated by police. “The president is attacking progressive cities with troops who are unwelcome and unskilled,” Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler said in a letter signed by 16 mayors calling on Trump to reverse his orders. “Militarized agents are terrorizing the American people. We must stand together for peace and reform, and against these un-American tactics.”
