N99 masks work VERY well.
N95 masks work well.
Surgical masks are bunk.
Stop making dumb statements about masks. Wear a good quality mask and you will have good quality results.

And if you have a problem wearing a high quality mask in a shared space like a grocery store during a pandemic, therein lies the educational problem.
And yes a lot of (especially blue) states have really dumb laws around masks that don't fit science.
