PORTLAND, Ore. (KATU) — A Seattle man is suing President Donald Trump, Acting Homeland Security Secretary Chad Wolf, and others after he says he was beaten by federal officers at a protest in Portland, Oregon.

Jeff Paul said he attended a protest in Portland on July 18. He said during the demonstration federal officers "stormed the streets of Portland and began mercilessly attacking peaceful protesters with military weapons."

Paul is a special education paraprofessional within Seattle Public Schools. He describes himself as a peaceful civil rights activist. He said he decided to join the Portland protests over systemic racism following the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis.
