Trump, Ben Carson Are ‘Tearing Down’ An Obama-Era Housing Rule Accused Of Funneling Money Into Wealthy Areas

The Trump administration will end the Obama administration’s 2015 Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing (AFFH) rule Thursday morning, Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson and senior HUD officials explained Wednesday to the Daily Caller.

“At the request of the President, HUD will be tearing down the Obama Administration’s Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing rule,” Carson told the Daily Caller. “In nearly every case, it is a fact that local governments are more adequately equipped to deal with their community’s unique needs than any unelected bureaucrat in Washington.”

“President Trump made a promise to preserve America’s neighborhoods, I am pleased to report that promise has been kept.”

The AFFH rule was added to the decades-old Fair Housing Act by the Obama administration in an effort to hold local HUD grantees accountable to the idea of furthering affordable housing by producing and maintaining assessments of fair housing practices. Those assessments saddled HUD’s payroll with an estimated 64 additional employees, whose salaries cost American taxpayers up to $15 million a year.

Furthermore, the Trump administration argues the rule hurt low income Americans by forcing federal funds into wealthy areas, as numerous local jurisdictions opted out of the program due to the cost of producing reports, delivering them to HUD, and in many cases, forcing through zoning changes to maintain compliance.

Carson and senior HUD officials stated that the decision to roll back AFFH dated back to President Donald Trump’s first days in office. Carson originally suspended AFFH tools in 2018, and Trump further instructed Carson in January of 2020 to go as far as the law allows to terminate and replace the rule, without requiring Congressional action, senior HUD officials said. The president has recently voiced his opinion on the subject, tweeting he was considering ending the rule in June.

Fauci's infectious disease agency broke federal spending law and rules, audits show

NIAID violated 'time' and 'amount' rules and Anti-Deficiency Act by spending tax dollars before they were appropriated, Inspector General reports show.

The National Institute for Allergies and Infectious Diseases, the federal agency headed by longtime public health expert Dr. Anthony Fauci, has been cited several times over the years for failing to comply with federal contract and expenditure laws, internal government audits reveal.

As scrutiny of Fauci's role in managing the pandemic grows, the nation's infectious disease specialist has defended himself by citing his long record in government. But that record includes several ethics and patient safety controversies on his watch as well as numerous citations for violating contract "time" and "amount" rules and the Anti-Deficiency Act, a federal law.

A 2011 report by the Department of Health and Human Services inspector general is emblematic of the repeated problems. Investigators examined a $54.8 million, multi-year federal contract to help Fauci's agency build and manage a statistical and data coordinating center for medical research project and found NIAID spent tax dollars before they were appropriated by Congress and didn't account for monies as required by federal regulations.

"NIAID did not comply with the time and the amount requirements specified in the statutes. NIAID violated both the bona fide needs rule and the Anti-Deficiency Act by obligating funds in advance of an appropriation," the IG concluded, ordering Fauci's agency to report to Congress it had violated the law. NIH admitted the failures.

Similarly, a 2012 IG report found a $244.5 million multiyear contract NIAID executed for research support wrongly spent monies it did not legally have in one year and failed to spending moneys Congress had ordered for subsequent years.

"NIAID violated the Anti-Deficiency Act by obligating $8.6 million of the $20.9 million in advance of an appropriation and may have violated the Anti-Deficiency Act by obligating significantly less of appropriate fiscal year funds in program years 2 and 4 than required by either the Contract estimate or the actual expenditures incurred," investigators concluded.

The Anti-Deficiency Act prohibits federal agencies "from obligating or expending any amount in advance of or in excess of an appropriation unless specifically authorized by law." Each violation must be reported to Congress and the president.

Corrupt Wikipedia No Longer Deems FOX News as “Generally Reliable” — Joins Gateway Pundit and Epoch Times as Censored Websites

T. D. Adler at Breitbart News in December 2019 reported the Wikipedia blacklists now include The Epoch Times and The Gateway Pundit for our truthful reporting on Russiagate.

Wikipedia used Gateway Pundit reporting that was true and factual and used it against us as an excuse to censor The Gateway Pundit.

China critics the Epoch Times and conservative outlet the Gateway Pundit have been banned from use as reliable sources on Wikipedia in the latest cases of news outlets that support President Trump being banned from the online encyclopedia. The Epoch Times ban proposal cited NBC’s hit piece on the site over its coverage of improprieties in the Russia investigation, commonly called Spygate, which prompted smear efforts against the outlet on Wikipedia. Gateway Pundit was proposed for a ban shortly after Epoch Times.

The Epoch Times Wikipedia ban proposal was apparently prompted by one of its articles being cited on the Wikipedia page for Joseph Mifsud, a key controversial figure in the origins of the discredited Russia investigation. Gateway Pundit’s ban was in response to the outlet being cited for past media silence over Ukrainian interference in the 2016 election.

Over the past year, Wikipedia editors have been on a banning spree targeting conservative news sources. Having previously banned the Daily Mail as a source, the following year marked the beginning of an acceleration of the process. Since then, editors have imposed similar bans on fifteen other sites aside from Epoch Times and Gateway Pundit. While some data-focused sites and state-owned outlets in Venezuela and Iran have also been banned, the bulk of the sites banned have been conservative-leaning news outlets. Breitbart News was blacklisted as a “reliable source” on Wikipedia in 2018…

…Gateway Pundit’s ban came from a proposal soon after the proposed ban for Epoch Times. The ban proposal came in response to editor “BullRangifer” removing a 2017 piece criticizing media silence on Ukraine colluding with Democrats to influence the 2016 election. The article was originally added to frame Gateway Pundit as “fueling conspiracy theories” related to the impeachment inquiry over Trump’s call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. In fact, the piece correctly noted Politico’s coverage of DNC contractor Alexandra Chalupa soliciting Ukrainian interference and then-Democratic minority leader of the House Intelligence Committee Adam Schiff expressing concerns about the reported interference.

D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser: Masks Mandatory for 3-Year-Olds Outside, Adults Violators Fined $1000

Muriel Bowser, mayor of Washington, DC, issued an order on Wednesday mandating everyone above the age of two in the nation’s capital to wear masks upon leaving their homes “if they are likely to come into contact with another person for more than a fleeting moment.” Those found to be in violation of the order can be fined up to $1,000.

Effective immediately, the language of the mayor’s decree references the “COVID-19 public health emergency” and reads as follows:

Under the new Mayor’s Order on masks, people must wear a mask when they leave their homes if they are likely to come into contact with another person for more than a fleeting moment. Exceptions are listed in the Mayor’s Order, and common exceptions include: children under the age of three; a person who is in an enclosed office that no one else is allowed to enter; a person who is actively eating or drinking; and a person who is engaged in vigorous outdoor exercise and is maintaining social distance of at least six feet from other people.

The mayor’s order defines masks as including “cloth face coverings, such as homemade cloth masks, store-bought fabric masks, bandanas or other cloth wrapped around the head that covers the mouth and nose, as well as medical or surgical masks.”

The Metropolitan Police Department is authorized to enforce the mask-wearing mandate, with exceptions offered to minors. The order states, “No youth under eighteen (18) years of age shall be charged with a violation.”

— Mayor Muriel Bowser (@MayorBowser) July 22, 2020

The Washington Post reported that some D.C. City Council members considered further restrictions:

Several D.C. Council members praised the mask mandate during a call Wednesday, while questioning how it would be enforced. There also were questions about whether the city should do more to combat the rising spread of the virus, such as prohibiting indoor restaurant dining or requiring people who visited certain areas to quarantine.

In addition to the mask requirement, the city is stepping up enforcement at establishments with liquor licenses, which are allowed to serve alcohol only at tables six feet apart. Four have been fined, and city inspectors will be authorized to issue fines on the spot going forward, Bowser said.

The mask mandate includes the following exceptions for people not to wear a mask outside of their homes:

a. A person is a resident or guest in a private home or apartment;

b. A person is actually eating, drinking, or legally smoking;

c. A person is engaged in vigorous outdoor exercise and is maintaining social distance of at least six (6) feet from each other person;

d. A person is in the water at a swimming pool;

e. A person is in an enclosed office that no one else is permitted to enter;

f. A person is aged two (2) years old or younger;

g. A person is unable to wear a mask due to a medical condition or disability, or is physically unable to remove a mask;

h. A person is giving a speech for broadcast or an audience, provided no one is within six feet of the speaker;

i. A deaf or hard of hearing person needs to read the lips of a speaker;

j. The equipment required for a job precludes the wearing of a mask and the person is wearing that equipment, or when wearing a mask would endanger public safety;

k. A person has been lawfully asked to remove the mask for facial recognition purposes.

Bowser’s edict may expire on October 9, 2020, or later if she decides not to terminate the “state of emergency” she declared on March 11.

WOW! Joe Biden Says It’s Wrong to Hold China Accountable Because Americans Can’t Distinguish Between “a South Korean and Someone From Beijing”

If Trump said this you’d never hear the end of it.

On the same day Joe Biden accuses President Trump of being a racist — he dropped this line:

Joe Biden: Look what he’s doing now. He’s blaming everything on China. He’s blaming everything on the Chinese. And people don’t make a distinction. As you well know from a South Korean and someone from Beijing. They make no distinction. It’s Asia. And that’s the way and he’s just using it as a wedge.

Rand Paul: Cuomo ‘Should Be Impeached’ for Nursing Home Policies

During an interview with the “Fox News Rundown” podcast released on Wednesday, Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) called for New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) to be impeached over his “disastrous” and “terrible” nursing home policy “to send patients with coronavirus back to nursing homes,” during the coronavirus pandemic. Paul also criticized similar nursing home policies in New Jersey and said that “the people we are lauding are people who actually made catastrophic decisions.”

Paul said, “I see a mountain of people who died, particularly, in the nursing homes.”

He later added, [relevant remarks begin around 10:00] “I think that many of the things we have done have not worked, and the people we are lauding are people who actually made catastrophic decisions. I think Gov. Cuomo should be impeached for what he did, for the disastrous decision he made to send patients with coronavirus back to nursing homes, and virtually half his people who died were in the nursing homes, same with New Jersey. So, terrible public health policy decisions were made, and I think, in the end, none of these policies have probably been good for our economy or actually good in containing the virus.”
