UPDATE ON MAIL-IN VOTING, LA COUNTY
3 months until the election. Los Angeles County. I just got a letter in the mail saying I'll get a vote-by-mail ballot.
Some notable information I was able to gather:
>MailingBEGINSon October 5. This is worded very specifically. We probably won't actually receive our ballots until late October or until it's too late. If there's another delay in mailing the ballots BACK, expect them not to be counted or vote tallies to be changed.
>Multilingual ballots will be provided
>I did not have to do anything special to get this. It appears as though having a registered address to vote on-file is enough to get election materials mailed to your address. This will apparently happen automatically unless you request otherwise.
>The materials I received confirm this, as you specifically have to mail the card back in order to tell them NOT to mail you a ballot. Otherwise, no action=ballot mailed to your address on-file.
>The materials I received specifically and prominently state "ALL REGISTERED VOTERS WILL RECEIVE A VOTE BY MAIL BALLOT"
>In-person voting will apparently still be an option; the materials I just got state "Safe and accessible in-person voting options will be available" and provide no further info.
>The card says, "Beginning with the November 3rd General Election all registered voters will be mailed a Vote by Mail ballot to ensure a safe and accessible voting option during the COVID-19 pandemic." I do not know what "Beginning with" means; phrasing seems odd.
Anyway, universal mail-in voting confirmed.
