But then someone got shot accidentally.

3 killed as small plane crashes into apartment block in Germany

An ultralight plane has smashed into the roof of a five-story residential building in the town of Wesel in northwestern Germany. At least three people were killed in the crash, with two others injured, including a child.

The plane caught fire after the crash. Photos from the scene show thick white smoke coming from the roof, but not the aircraft itself as the debris may have remained inside the building. Firefighters extinguished the blaze by noon on Saturday.

The victims haven’t been identified yet, police in the town located near the border with the Netherlands said. It’s also unclear if the pilot was among those killed.

There were likely fatalities among residents of the building as the ill-fated aircraft could carry no more than two people.

The child, who escaped with minor injuries, was most likely a resident of the apartment block.

Some German outlets cited witnesses claiming the plane crashed into the building after a collision with a hot air balloon, but this has not been officially confirmed.

Florida officials included falls and at least one suicide as COVID-19 deaths.

A local Palm Beach investigator found that only 169 out of 581 deaths listed as COVID-19 deaths without any contributing illnesses.

Chevron prompts eye-rolls after reportedly framing layoffs as good news for anyone who isn’t a white male

Firing employees is usually nothing to brag about, but Chevron has reportedly branded its belt-tightening layoffs as a way to increase the number of senior-level positions held by women and ethnic minorities.

The oil major has been forced to cut spending due to the recent economic downturn. In an internal email seen by Reuters, Chevron reportedly explained to employees that the company’s decision to sack management had a very woke silver lining: Less white males, more women and minorities in senior jobs.

Chevron is said to be reducing the “dominance of white males” in company management by increasing the percentage of top jobs held by women and minorities to 44%, up from 38% last year.

Women and non-white men represented nearly half of the oil industry’s workforce as of 2019, but they are still a minority in senior management roles. However, through the firing of more top-level people during an economic recession, these minority groups will become a larger segment of the industry’s workforce.

The politically correct spin did not impress social media, with many wondering how layoffs – which have far-reaching social consequences for people of all colors and genders – could be reframed as somehow progressive.

“Fire White people until the diversity ratios improve,”joked Ian Miles Cheong, the managing editor of Human Events.

“Diversity increased because they fired people… how is that a brag?”enquired a similarly unimpressed observer.

Others speculated about the legality of “diversity quotas,” arguing that they seem to be an affront to anti-discrimination laws.

The Civil Rights Act exists for a reason. “Diversity quotas” are discrimination on the basis of race/color, which is illegal.

Even if the email was well-meaning, there were concerns that Chevron was putting wokeness before solid business practices.

“The shareholders are going to love that!”joked one Twitter user.

Policies that mandate or celebrate more ‘diversity’ have been developing in many spheres, with lots of people noticing that well-intended efforts have sometimes been taken to extremes. Earlier this month, the chief curator of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art was forced to resign after saying the institution “will definitely still continue to collect white artists.”

CNN outraged at Sinclair-owned local news stations for interviewing doctor at heart of ‘Plandemic’ conspiracy theory

CNN has whipped up an army of outraged Twitter liberals after it slammed a network of local news stations for airing an interview with a disgraced scientist who blamed Dr Anthony Fauci for the coronavirus.

Dr Judy Mikovits is the star of ‘Plandemic,’ a conspiracy documentary claiming that Covid-19 is a ploy by National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases head Dr Anthony Fauci and Bill Gates to poison the masses with vaccines and get rich doing so. The film has been pulled from YouTube, censored in internet searches, and denounced by almost every single mainstream media outlet.

Mikovits, however, will appear on hundreds of local news outlets owned by the Sinclair Broadcast Group this weekend, during a segment of ‘America This Week’, hosted by Eric Bolling.

Her appearance alone rubbed CNN the wrong way. In an article slamming Sinclair for airing such a “baseless conspiracy theory,” CNN hammered Bolling for allowing Mikovits to “continue to make her case” without pushing back enough. CNN even texted both Bolling and Mikovits’ fellow guest Larry Klayman, a lawyer who backed up her claims, to ask them about the segment.

Taking a page from the Media Matters playbook, CNN asked Bolling if he had any “second thoughts” about airing the segment. Bolling simply replied “I don’t second guess my producers and bookers.”

Online, CNN’s liberal viewership clamored for a boycott of Sinclair. Some even demanded that anyone spreading such “dangerously false propaganda” be imprisoned.

CNN’s gripe with Bolling seemed to stem from the fact that he didn’t appropriately ridicule Mikovits. Bolling did call her claim “hefty,” and afterwards interviewed Dr Nicole Saphier, a medical contributor for Fox News. Both Bolling and Saphier agreed on air that it was “highly unlikely” that Dr Fauci created the coronavirus, calling the allegation a “conspiracy theory.”

Whatever its standing in the information war, CNN is losing the ratings war against Sinclair and its affiliates. Local broadcasters like the 294 owned or operated by Sinclair and its subsidiaries draw in five times as many primetime viewers as cable networks like CNN. Among these local broadcasters, Sinclair is king, reaching 40 percent of American households.
