Acting CBP Commissioner: Portland Mayor Is Telling Feds to Go Home, But Not Criminals

On Saturday’s broadcast of the Fox News Channel’s “Fox & Friends,” acting Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Mark Morgan slammed Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler by saying that the mayor is telling federal agents and officers to stop acting under their statutory authority and to “watch the criminals burn the seat of American justice to the ground.” Morgan also stated that the mayor, “instead of telling the criminals to go home,” is telling “the federal agents doing their job, protecting Americans to go home.”

Morgan said that the claim that it is the federal agents and officers who are inflaming the situation and creating violence is “preposterous” and it is “unbelievable.”

He continued, “So, the mayor in Portland is saying, federal agents and officers, you go home. Stop doing your statutory authority, and watch the criminals burn the seat of American justice to the ground. That’s what [we will] see. So, instead of telling the criminals to go home, he tells the federal agents doing their job, protecting Americans to go home. It’s outrageous. It’s ridiculous. And it’s dangerous.”

Morgan also stated that Wheeler and Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan (D) of “putting politics over public safety.”

Sen. Tom Cotton and Bill Hagerty: Make China Pay for Pandemic, Make ‘Made in USA’ America’s Theme Again

CLARKSVILLE, Tennessee — Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) and GOP U.S. Senate frontrunner, former U.S. ambassador to Japan Bill Hagerty, laid out a detailed vision to hold China accountable for the coronavirus pandemic and stop the Chinese Communist Party from continuing to build global influence all while bringing manufacturing especially of critical goods back to the United States.

In an exclusive interview with Breitbart News after a series of campaign events in the Nashville area and here in the home of Fort Campbell and the 101st Airborne Division, of which Cotton was a part when he served in the Army, Cotton and Hagerty ripped into Communist China. Cotton was campaigning with Hagerty for his contested GOP U.S. Senate primary and laying out the case of why President Donald Trump asked Hagerty to run for this seat and endorsed him for it a year ago—an endorsement the president firmly stands behind. The joint interview aired on Breitbart News Saturday on SiriusXM 125 the Patriot Channel. In it, Cotton and Hagerty both demonstrate their expertise when it comes to China and focus on their efforts to bring manufacturing back to the United States.

“I’m here in Tennessee today supporting Bill Hagerty for the same reason President Trump is supporting Bill Hagerty—because Bill will be a strong, reliable conservative voice in the United States Senate,” Cotton told Breitbart News. “He will stand up for American jobs and American workers. He’s already stood up to China in so many ways as our ambassador to Japan, and when it wasn’t popular in some Republican circles in 2016 Bill Hagerty supported Donald Trump. He worked hard to get Donald Trump elected, to beat Hillary Clinton. He walks the walk, he doesn’t just talk the talk. He will be a great United States Senator and that’s why I endorsed him and that’s why Donald Trump has endorsed Bill Hagerty.”

Hagerty, Trump’s former ambassador to Japan, spent the early days of the Trump administration on the front lines of the trade war with China—a prelude to the broader battle that looms ahead in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic. Hagerty told Breitbart News that a big part of why President Trump asked him to come back from Japan and run for this seat being vacated by retiring Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-TN)—and then endorsed him early and often for it—is because the president trusts Hagerty when it comes to the core issue of dealing with the Chinese Communist Party.

Thousands protest across Israel against Netanyahu amid coronavirus crisis

"As they continue to quarrel among themselves, a million people are waiting for security and justice. We do not have time to wait. We have no air to breathe," protest organizers said.

Thousands of protesters gathered on Saturday night in front of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s official residence on Balfour Street in Jerusalem to express civil unrest at the “detached and failing government,” calling on Netanyahu to resign immediately.

The protesters gathered from Paris Square at the corner of the street and up until a barricade formed across from the prime minister’s residence by police.

“The goal here is that the government [will] no longer be populated by corrupt people,” Ilona Harpaz, a protester leading chants with a megaphone, told The Jerusalem Post. “They see themselves first and the people later.

“How is it that a prime minister who has been indicted… is still leading?” she continued. “If it were the principal of a school, he would not be allowed to continue working. He is supposed to manage the country, not deal with these cases.”

Six people were arrested on Saturday night during the protests in Jerusalem, including a 27-year-old suspected of taking part in an assaults in the area. The suspect was carrying a flare, gas spray and a substance suspected of being a dangerous drug.

“Bibi, go home!” the demonstrators cried in between posters calling Netanyahu corrupt, stating that he “does not have the public’s mandate” and crying out against the economic situation, with many posters saying that the “small citizen” is a poor one.

Protesters called the “government capital,” referring to the current financial system, as “underground” as they crowded close to one another, breaking coronavirus procedure along the way.

“With all the crumbs that they throw at us, we have no money for bread,” they said. “As they continue to quarrel among themselves, a million people are waiting for security and justice. We do not have time to wait. We have no air to breathe.”

An identical barricade to the one blocking the protesters stood several meters away, beside which a handful of Likud supporters cried out against the protests and expressed support for Netanyahu.

The supporters cried out admiration for the prime minister, as well as for Public Security Minister Amir Ohana.
