Slightly off topic but this thread reminded me of the fact that in the US, corporations are recognized as having the rights of persons. This precedent was started in 1871, I believe. Not formally, legally recognized but assumed.
If corporations were not recognized as persons and cannot, for example own property, rather changes things, doesn't it?
