"The Swamp Is In A Feeding Frenzy" - 'Tea Party' Resurgent Amid Trillion-Dollar Bailout Bills

Tea Party conservatives are waking up to the lack of fiscal discipline by the Republican establishment over exploding deficits and another round of economic stimulus, according to The Hill.

What's happening today is similar to the Republican backlash in 2008 when they bailed out Wall Street during the financial crash, it's just this time, the bailouts dwarfed the ones a decade ago.

This puts Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, a Kentucky Republican, in a tight spot as he is up for reelection this fall. His state is flooded with Tea Party patriots, who have raised the alarm over the Trump administration's reckless deficit spending.

"Just came from Progressive Democrat, whoops, I'm mean Republican caucus," Senator Rand Paul, a Kentucky Republican, tweeted last week.

"The majority of Republicans are now no different than socialist Democrats when it comes to debt. They simply don't care about debt and are preparing to add at least another trillion dollars in debt this month, combined with the trillions from earlier this summer," Paul said.

Senator Ted Cruz, a Texas Republican, said "hell no" to critical components of McConnell's next stimulus package.

"This is the swamp in a feeding frenzy. Everybody's lobbyist has their hand out, saying, 'Look, if you're spending trillions of dollars, I want to get some.' And it's not right," Cruz said.

GOP Senator Ron Johnson of Wisconsin, another politician who was elected during the Tea Party movement a decade ago, told The Hill that Congress shouldn't authorize "a dime more" until "we've thoroughly taken a look at the $2.9 trillion we've already authorized" and figure out what funds have actually been spent.

"When we were in the minority, we were able to put a brake on Obama's desires," Johnson noted, adding that the Republican establishment has lost fiscal discipline in recent years.

Senator Rick Scott, a Florida Republican, said the pandemic "shouldn't be used as an excuse to spend" his "state's taxpayers' hard-earned dollars" to bailout out other "poorly managed state budgets."

"As we begin looking at another spending bill, we need to know how the money already allocated has been spent. Last month, I wrote to all governors requesting details on how this taxpayer money is being spent. I'm still waiting on responses from most of them," Scott said.

Ten years later, the Tea Party has failed to curtail deficit spending. Republicans, disillusioned by the "greatest economy ever," are beginning to realize in the age of Trump they lost their ways through reckless deficit spending.

President Trump, who appeared to be a deficit hawk as a candidate, and promised to "eliminate the national debt in eight years" has increased the country's debt load by at least $6 trillion, or about 30% in his first term.

In May, the US added a trillion dollars to combat the virus-induced downturn.

Nancy Pelosi Vows to Block Coronavirus Liability Protections

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) said Democrats will oppose liability protections for employers of “essential workers” in any future coronavirus package in a Sunday interview on CBS’s Face the Nation.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) previously described inclusion of liability protections for businesses and doctors as mandatory for any agreement on a coronavirus relief bill. “If there’s any red line, it’s on litigation,” he said. He added, “If there is another bill that passes in the Senate, it will include the liability protections.”

Pelosi’s described the Democrat party’s opposition to liability protections for “essential” businesses as motivated by concern for workers’ health and safety. Allowing workers to sue employers for allegations of negligence related to coronavirus is about “responsibility,” she said.

Partial transcript below.

MARGARET BRENNAN: Some of the companies and even universities out there have said that they do need some kind of liability protections. Is — are you open to a deal that includes that?

SPEAKER PELOSI: Well, there are some suggestions that relate to academics to schools and the rest. We have an initiative in California to that respect, but what we will not support is the following: What they’re saying to essential workers, you have to go to work because you’re essential. We’ve placed no responsibility on your employer to make that workplace safe and if you get sick, you have no recourse because we’ve given your employer protection. And if you don’t go to work because you’re afraid of being sick and you have that job opportunity, you don’t get unemployment insurance. This is so unfair. Let’s just get to the heart of it. At the point of all of this is, this president — I have a new name for him, Mr. Make Matters Worse. He has made matters worse from the start. Delay, denial. It’s a hoax. It’ll go away magically. It’s a miracle, and all the rest. And we’re in this situation with — you spelled out some of the numbers very clearly early. So it makes matters worse — now then we send our children to school. The best way to send our children school is to fund it, to fund it. The ventilation —

BRENNAN: Yes.

PELOSI: The spacing, the additional teachers and to lower the infection rate in the community in which they exist. That takes money.

BRENNAN: Yes.

“Companies have said they could be vulnerable to a wave of lawsuits if their workers get sick during the pandemic,” Axios reported.

Democrats are the primary beneficiaries of political donations from lawyers, law firms, and associated lobbyists. Of the top five contributors among law firms and related professional associations between 2019 and 2020, Democrats received 79.6 percent of total donations ($8,158,274 from a total of $10,245,008). According to Open Secrets, Democrats have received the vast majority of political donations from the legal profession for decades.

Trump Campaign Official Tim Murtaugh: Joe Biden a ‘Trojan Horse Candidate’ for the Extreme Left

Democrat presidential nominee Joe Biden is a “Trojan Horse candidate” who will be exploited by the radical left, Trump’s re-election campaign Communications Director Tim Murtaugh said in an interview Saturday.

“Joe Biden is an empty vessel. He’s a Trojan Horse candidate that the extreme left will use to fill and advance their radical agenda,” Murtaugh told SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Saturday with host Breitbart News Political Editor Matthew Boyle.

Murtaugh noted that Biden recently had to “link arms” with Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) on a “unity platform” that he said had “insane ideas in it.” He said:

It really is the complete wiping out of our borders, they’re not going to prosecute illegal border crossings — it won’t be illegal anymore, they won’t be detaining people at the border, they’re going to encourage sanctuary cities, and if illegal aliens get to America, they’ll give them free health care and they’ll give them work permits so that they can compete with Americans and legal residents for jobs.

David Bossie, president of Citizens United and a senior adviser to the reelection campaign effort, also spoke to SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Saturday about the “binary choice” between Biden and Trump.

“Eight years as vice president, [Biden] oversaw the slowest economic recovery since the Great Depression, and what he says now is that he’ll raise taxes as the first order of business,” Bossie told Boyle.

He added:

He’ll impose the Green New Deal and the mountain of regulations that go along with that. He’s got a terrible track record — he voted for NAFTA, he has been coddling and appeasing China every step of his career, and so we have to draw the contrast between the great achievements of the president and how he built the economy up to unprecedented heights and he’ll do it again versus Joe Biden who has a record of failure and really some terrible and frightening ideas — especially economically for the future.

“People have to focus on the binary choice. On election day, you have to make a decision,” Bossie said. “You want to make a decision between open borders and border security. Law and order versus anarchy. Higher taxes versus lower taxes.”

“It’s about what our children and our grandchildren’s futures look like. When it comes down to five to 10 years from now, a second Trump terms means law and order, safety and security for the American people, peace and prosperity for America. Peace around the world and prosperity at home,” he said.

“Joe Biden puts America backwards, he goes back into the Paris Climate Accords, he’s going back into the Iran Nuclear Deal, we literally go back in time to the Obama years, and they undo everything that President Trump has done, that’s positive for America over the last four years. So he has to win, the future of America depends on it, the future of the world depends on it,” he said.
