Herridge is a top-notch reporter, and her tweet is a bit cryptic. But “18 USC 1519 Destruction, alteration, or falsification of records in Federal investigations and bankruptcy”

states:

“Whoever knowingly alters, destroys, mutilates, conceals, covers up, falsifies, or makes a false entry in any record, document, or tangible object with the intent to impede, obstruct, or influence the investigation or proper administration of any matter within the jurisdiction of any department or agency of the United States or any case filed under title 11, or in relation to or contemplation of any such matter or case, shall be fined under this title, imprisoned not more than 20 years, or both.”

Based on the open-source reporting, a whole lot of people could be charged with that.

Her other reference (18 U.S. Code § 1001):

a) Except as otherwise provided in this section, whoever, in any matter within the jurisdiction of the executive, legislative, or judicial branch of the Government of the United States, knowingly and willfully—

(1) falsifies, conceals, or covers up by any trick, scheme, or device a material fact;

(2) makes any materially false, fictitious, or fraudulent statement or representation; or

(3) makes or uses any false writing or document knowing the same to contain any materially false, fictitious, or fraudulent statement or entry;

shall be fined under this title, imprisoned not more than 5 years

And finally, 18 U.S. Code § 1621. Perjury, “… imprisoned not more than five years…”

Catherine is being a bit cryptic, but it sounds like Strzok (and others) are being charged with some nasty accusations.

These bastards sing like a nightengale…
