I'll give you my speculation. I don't think 'we' are the ones they would be after initially.
And maybe our military leadership would step in to save us.
However, in my state(GA), - IF I vote in person at the polling precinct, there is no ballot with my name on it at all - totally anonymous - No paper trail. Of course, with absentee there would be. More reason to vote in person.
