NextGen America contacts 275,000 young Arizonans about voting by mail
A progressive advocacy group so far has contacted 275,000 young Arizonans by phone and text to ask them to make sure they are registered to vote and consider using a mail-in ballot.
"During a pandemic, voting by mail is absolutely essential to ensure that everyone casts their ballots safely," Azza Abuseif, NextGen America's Arizona state director, said in a written statement. "Right now, the president is spreading misinformation about stoking fear around mail-in ballots in an attempt to restrict the electorate."
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's guidance on elections during a pandemic states that large crowds and long lines could risk spreading COVID-19 and suggests that voters consider alternative ways to cast their ballot.
President Donald Trump has repeatedly claimed that mail-in ballots will lead to substantial voter fraud and corruption, although his allegations have been widely discredited.

Coronavirus: Covid-like symptoms in schools could 'spread panic'.
Michael Allen of Lisneal College said he was "genuinely worried" and fears a cluster could shut the school down.
"We could be facing panic, unnecessary panic perhaps, in cold and flu season when children and adults aren't well," Mr Allen said.
"I feel that pupils need to be tested," he added.
Mr Allen said that in October and November the school would send "lots of young people home" on a daily basis due to sickness.
"Once we hit flu season, we will not be in a position to determine who has a cold, who has a persistent cough, and who has Covid," Mr Allen explained.
