Rep. Rashida Tlaib will not be joining her fellow Squad members, Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Ilhan Omar, in endorsing Joseph R. Biden for president, explaining that casting a vote against President Trump is inspiration enough for people to vote against him in November.
During an interview with Newsweek published Monday, Ms. Tlaib, Michigan Democrat, said the general election is about getting rid of Mr. Trump, not voting for Mr. Biden.
“If the ultimate goal is to get rid of Donald Trump, that doesn’t have to involve me actually endorsing Biden,” she said. “My constituents don’t need to be bogged down in, ‘Is he the best candidate?’ That’s not what you have to convince my residents. They need to come out in droves and be inspired by something. And that is going to be a vote against Donald Trump.”

The Trump administration is preparing to order China to sharply reduce the number of diplomats posted in the United States to levels equal to the number of American diplomats stationed in China, senior State Department officials said.
The action seeks in part to reduce the burden on FBI counterintelligence agents, who in recent months have devoted 2,000 special agents to catching Chinese spies and their agents, the senior official said. FBI Director Christopher A. Wray said recently that the bureau is opening a new Chinese-related case on average every 10 hours.
“By Aug. 1, we want reciprocal levels and access” for U.S. diplomats abroad, said one senior U.S. official, who spoke on background in advance of the formal announcement expected this week.

LA city councilman Mike Bonin supports Antifa violence in Portland, says ‘F— Trump’
The councilman later joined the Black Lives Matter protest outside the federal building and posted a photograph of himself with a sign reading, “Solidarity with Portland. Stop federal repression,” apparently printed by the Party for Socialism and Liberation.
“Trump’s creation and deployment of a secret police force — unidentifiable armed soldiers throwing people into unmarked vans, firing tear gas and rubber bullets at protesters — is a threat to our democracy,” Bonin claimed in the text accompanying the photo.
