I used to do a lot of business bringing in product to a couple of western Meican ports, namely Manzanillo and Lazaro Cardenas.

Back 15 years ago, Kansas City Southern was trying to develop these ports and the rail line from the ports into the US because they claimed that it was quicker to bring in parts from Asia that way and get them to the Mexican factories, and that also the length of rail transit was shorter from Mexico-Texas than from Los Angeles-Texas.

 

It would be rather shocking if they had set that up to move contraband or to support trafficking.
