Police in Florida are conducting a death investigation involving Turkey’s senior national representative to the U.S. Central Command international coalition in Tampa.

That officer, Huseyin Kurtdere, 39, has been arrested and accused of tying up and drugging a woman at his home, who eventually died, according to police records obtained by Military Times.

Kurtdere was arrested by the Tampa Police Department Monday after authorities received an emergency call via dispatch reporting that a 39-year-old woman was not breathing.

The woman’s name and relationship to Kurtdere was not identified in a police report and Tampa police say Florida state law prohibits them from naming crime victims.

Kurtdere has been charged with three counts of felony false imprisonment and three counts of misdemeanor battery. He is being held in jail with no bond set.

The Seattle police said that they have recovered a large haul of pyrotechnic explosives, stun guns, bear spray and sets of spike strips in a van abandoned by protesters after they wrought havoc in the city over the weekend.

In a press conference on Wednesday, Seattle Police Chief Carmen Best revealed that officers decided to search a vehicle used by protesters and subsequently left near the East Precinct on Saturday, explaining they feared it could have been rigged with explosives.

The van was “closely” following the protesters, who were seen “removing items [from the vehicle] and distributing them to people within the group” amid fierce clashes with law enforcement on Saturday.

Britain’s overseas spy agency – better known as MI6 – has installed diplomat Richard Moore as its new chief, the UK Foreign Office announced on Wednesday.

Libya-born Moore succeeds Sir Alex Younger, who will relinquish duties as head of the Secret Intelligence Service (SIS) in the autumn. The 57-year-old will also be known as ‘C’ – a role made famous in the James Bond movies.

Moore’s current role is Director General for Political Affairs in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO), a position he has held since April 2018. He has previously worked in other director roles in the SIS and has been Deputy National Security Adviser in the UK Cabinet Office.

Educated at Oxford University with postgraduate study at Harvard University in the US, Moore has also served as British ambassador to Turkey, between 2014 and 2017. Moore's interests reportedly include scuba-diving, hiking, golf, Turkish carpets and porcelain, as well as visiting historical sites.
