Seth Rogen opens up about his Jewish heritage: 'I was fed a huge amount of lies'
“If it is for religious reasons, I don’t agree with it, because I think religion is silly,” said Rogen. “If it is for truly the preservation of Jewish people, it makes no sense, because again, you don’t keep something you’re trying to preserve all in one place — especially when that place is proven to be pretty volatile, you know? ‘I’m trying to keep all these things safe, I’m going to put them in my blender and hope that that’s the best place… that’ll do it.’”

Michael Avenatti gets taxpayer-funded lawyer after judge agrees he's broke
A federal judge assigned to one of the three cases against the lawyer on Wednesday said he had established his "current indigency " so attorney Dean Steward can continue to represent him.
"The bottom line is that Mr. Avenatti has run out of funds, and faces a complex trial lasting as long as six weeks," Steward wrote in a court filing earlier this month.
Steward said Avenatti's financial woes were so dire that he needed taxpayer help to cover his legal fees.

Ohio Board of Pharmacy bans distribution of hydroxycholoroquine for coronavirus treatment
Ohio pharmacies can no longer dispense hydroxycholoroquine as a treatment for covid-19, under a new regulation by the state’s pharmacy board that takes effect Thursday.
The board cited the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s June decision to pull the drug’s emergency use authorization after the federal agency determined hydroxychloroquine to be “unlikely to be effective” as a covid-19 treatment and to pose possible health risks, including heart problems.

Michigan inn owners pull Norwegian flag after angry locals confuse it with Confederate flag
Accusations of racism by angry people confusing the Confederate flag for the Norwegian flag were too much to bear for owners of The Nordic Pineapple.
Kjersten and Greg Offenbecker pulled down their flag this month to stave off the heckles of ignorant locals in St. Johns, Michigan.
“I don’t see it because I grew up with the Norwegian Flag,” Mrs. Offenbecker told the Lansing State Journal. “To me, they are two distinct flags.”

Chinese jet shows off U.S. technology
China’s internet for many years provided a wealth of information on the People’s Liberation Army, often showing off new weapons and arms technologies before they were made officially public by the secretive PLA.
Under Chinese President Xi Jinping, however, the amount and quality of disclosures on unofficial military enthusiast websites have declined sharply as China imposes tighter online controls.
Last week, one military website, the Beijing-based Chaoji Da Benying, revealed photos of China’s J-20 stealth jet fighter showing what appear to be knockoffs of two American jet fighter technologies.

Judge delays the unsealing of a deposition from Jeffrey Epstein’s alleged former accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell
A federal judge delayed the unsealing of a deposition of Jeffery Epstein’s former girlfriend and alleged accomplice to allow her time to appeal its release.
US District Judge Loretta Preska denied Ghislaine Maxwell’s request to block the release of depositions from a 2016 civil lawsuit Wednesday but delayed the unsealing until Monday so Maxwell could ask an appeals court to review the matter, according to court documents.

Study identifies 6 different ‘types’ of COVID-19
A new study of COVID-19, based on data from a symptom tracker app, determined that there are six distinct “types” of the disease involving different clusters of symptoms. The discovery could potentially open new possibilities for how doctors can better treat individual patients and predict what level of hospital care they would need.
Researchers from King’s College London studied data from approximately 1,600 U.K. and U.S. patients who regularly logged their symptoms in the COVID Symptom Tracker App in March and April.

Jeff Bezos calls social media a ‘nuance destruction machine’ during antitrust hearing, with Mark Zuckerberg on the call
Don’t expect Amazon to roll out a social media platform anytime soon.
Speaking at an antitrust hearing that often waded outside of antitrust-related topics, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos called social media a “nuance destruction machine.”
The comment was made with Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg on the video conference call, in addition to Apple CEO Tim Cook and Google CEO Sundar Pichai.
“What I find a little discouraging is that it appears to me that social media is a nuance destruction machine, and I don’t think that’s helpful for a democracy,” Bezos said.
