We need to change the conversation regarding the First Amendment. Nothing in the First Amendment says anything about protests or about the percentage of protests being peaceful.

The following is the direct First Amendment text:

Amendment I

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

The First Amendment provides for “the right of the people peaceably to assemble.”

The people either peaceably assemble or they do not. A strict interpretation would determine an assembly is not peaceful if a is gel person was not peaceful. Our memes should keep referencing the direct text of the Amendments to the Constitution.
