I think it gives them a national platform to rally the troops in a way they couldn’t ordinarily, and covered by all MSM as a. Special occasion.

 

They can use the race angle, especially with civil rights era black men.

 

And like no name’s funeral, it gives them an opportunity to meet and discuss strategy going forward, with plausible deniability re: congregating with each other.

They can use the eulogy to discuss the civil rights activist’s life, their struggles with the powers that be, voting rights, and peaceful protests WHILE AT THE SAME TIME they can frame the current situation in the lens of the past.

 

Like “hey, John Lewis fought against the injustice, and so can you. Keep doing what you’re doing because they want to take those hard fought rights away from you”
