CHINA FLU !!

More than three-quarters of Americans blame the Chinese regime for the global spread of the CCP Virus, according to a new survey by the Pew Research Center, which also found that unfavorable U.S. views of China reached historic highs.

Asked about the disease’s global spread, seventy-eight percent of respondents to a July poll said that they placed a great deal, or a fair amount, of the blame on the Chinese regime’s initial handling of the outbreak. Half of the respondents thought that Washington should hold Beijing responsible for this even if it means worsening relations with the country.

Around three-quarters (73 percent) said the United States should try to promote human rights in China, even if it harms economic ties.

Meanwhile, perceptions of China also continued to sour, with 73 percent of respondents holding unfavorable opinions of the regime, up seven percent since the previous poll in March, and 26 points since 2018.

Washington—Senior Policy Advisor to the President Stephen Miller appears to have violated the Hatch Act during an interview this morning on Fox and Friends, according to a complaint sent today to the Office of Special Counsel by Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW). Miller criticized presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden while giving an interview from the White House in his official capacity. The Trump campaign then tweeted it out, again identifying him with his official title.

“This administration continues to use its official powers improperly to assist the president’s re-election and to chip away at the checks and balances that preserve our democracy,” said CREW Executive Director Noah Bookbinder. “It is well past time for those like Stephen Miller, who show an open disdain for ethics laws like the Hatch Act and who illegally use official resources to promote the president’s re-election bid, to be held accountable for their actions.”

The Hatch Act prohibits executive branch employees from “us[ing their] official authority or influence for the purpose of interfering with or affecting the result of an election.” “Political activity” is defined as “an activity directed toward the success or failure of a political party, candidate for partisan political office, or partisan political group.”

“Senior officials in this administration repeatedly act as though laws and ethics rules do not apply to them, particularly when it comes to misusing office for the president’s political or personal benefit, and it needs to stop,” said Bookbinder. “OSC should act swiftly and decisively to investigate Miller and take appropriate action.”

Throughout this presidency, CREW’s complaints have led to an unprecedented number of Trump administration officials being reprimanded for Hatch Act violations, including Dan Scavino, Nikki Haley, Stephanie Grisham, Raj Shah, Jessica Ditto, Madeleine Westerhout, Helen Aguirre Ferre, Alyssa Farah, Jacob Wood, Kellyanne Conway and Lynne Patton. Following CREW’s complaints against Kellyanne Conway, OSC took the unprecedented step of recommending Conway be removed from federal service in a scathing report detailing her numerous ethics violations.

What if you had access to a technology with the power to short-circuit negative memories before they formed – would you do it?

We may not be far away from this science-fiction concept becoming reality, because the technology is already here. It’s called transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), and a new study just showed how it can be used to disrupt memory formation and potentially help treat conditions linked to negative memories, like Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

TMS already has a long list of studies backing it as a treatment for depression, usually when nothing else works. It’s noninvasive (no electrodes in brain tissue needed) and uses magnetic fields to stimulate targeted nerve cells in the brain to trigger a response. In the latest study, TMS was used to interfere with memory consolidation in the prefrontal cortex, seat of our brain’s executive functions.

"This experimental protocol combining transcranial stimulation and memory reconsolidation allowed us to modify an aversive memory that the participants had learned the day before,” said Sara Borgomaneri, a researcher at the University of Bologna and first author of the study.

MANHATTAN (CN) — The day after the release of dozens of files in her case, Jeffrey Epstein’s accused accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell scored a win Friday in her quest to delay the release of a deposition said to incriminate her.

The Second Circuit’s order keeps the document under seal until the court can rule on her motion to block its release entirely.

Prosecutors claim that Maxwell perjured herself in the April 2016 deposition.

Attorneys for the British socialite argue its release could prejudice a jury, jeopardizing her right to a fair trial.

The court slated arguments for Sept. 22.
