Hindus in India kill young Christian mother after she refused to hand over her daughter to be raped

A 26-year-old Christian mother was killed by Hindus last week in Jharkhand state's Khunti District in east India after she refused to hand her daughter over to be raped.

Around 1 a.m., Sunita Devi, whose name has been altered for security purposes, spotted two masked men outside the bedroom window where she was sleeping with her children. She attempted to send them away, but was killed during the confrontation.

"Unaware of their intentions, Devi with the help of her cell phone torch, stepped out of the house to shoo the men away," pastor Jaymasih Nag of Grace Family Ministry told Morning Star News. "Devi's daughter followed her mother. Before long, the men attacked Devi and she fell on the ground dead. On seeing her mother fall on the ground, the minor girl quickly ran inside the house and latched the door from inside."

According to local police, the two assailants dragged Devi's body into a nearby jungle, placed the corpse into a sack, and disposed of it into the river about two miles from her home. Police found her body around 2 p.m. the same day.

5-year-old boy, pastor among 10 Christians killed by Muslim Fulani herdsmen in Nigeria

Muslim Fulani herdsmen on Friday killed a five-year-old boy, a church pastor, and 10 other Christians in a series of attacks in southern Kaduna state, Nigeria, Morning Star News reported.

Between 8 p.m. and midnight, armed Fulani herdsmen ambushed the surrounding areas of the Christian-dominated town of Kafanchan, including Zikpak, Maigizoh, and Ungwan Masara.

Five-year-old Joel Cephas and the Rev. Shamah Kuyet Ishaya of the Evangelical Church Winning All in Zikpak were among eight others that were murdered. The assailants wounded 11 other Christians and torched at least three homes.

The Rev. John Olu Adetoyese, Provost at ECWA Theological Seminary in Igbaja, Kwara state where Ishaya graduated, confirmed the pastor's death.

"Pastor Shamah, among many others, was gruesomely murdered by Fulani herdsmen in an overnight attack yesterday, July 24," Rev. Adetoyese said. "May the Lord grant the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss; may He be with Christians in southern Kaduna. Your journey was so short but fulfilled, Pastor Shamah Kuyet."

Soros-backed St Louis prosecutor accused of not disclosing trips paid for by left-wing organization

St Louis, Missouri attorney Kim Gardner, probably best known for trying to prosecute the McCloskey couple, took trips paid for by a George Soros-backed group and never reported them, a local news outlet claims.

The trips, according to an investigative report by KMOV-TV, were funded by Fair and Just Prosecution, an organization Soros has contributed to – he has also donated to Gardner’s political campaigns. Not reporting the funded trips could be a violation of state and city law.

According to the report, the attorney’s trips were “problematic” beyond apparently just being kept in the dark from the public. During various excursions in 2018 and 2019, Gardner was allegedly “unreachable,” causing delays in work and massive backlogs.

A public information request found no evidence of trips during those two years, despite social media suggesting that the attorney had indeed taken them. She had a history of traveling with the group in 2017, when she reported trips to cities like Chicago and New York.

Death sentence for Boston marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev overturned by US Appeals Court

The 1st US Circuit Court of Appeals in Boston has overturned the death sentence handed down to Dzhokhar Tsarnaev in 2015 for his part in the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing.

Tsarnaev's conviction for helping to carry out the bombing that left three people dead and over 260 injured is being upheld, but a new trial will take place to determine a different sentence.

His attorney argued in December 2019 to the Appeals Court that his 26-year-old client's death sentence was the product of an unfair trial, one which took place in Boston, despite objections. Attorney Daniel Habib claimed the city's anger over the attack “filtered” through the jury and the massive media coverage of the event meant no juror could be impartial.

Tsarnaev carried out the bombing with his brother, Tamerlan, who was killed by police in the days after the April 15 attack.

Marine Corps amphibious assault vehicle sinks, multiple casualties

A routine training exercise turned deadly for a Marine Expeditionary Force (MEF) unit on Thursday afternoon. One Marine is dead and others are missing in an AAV (amphibious assault vehicle) mishap off San Clemente Island in southern California.

“1 Marine has died, 8 service members remain missing and 2 were injured after an AAV mishap July 30 off the coast of Southern California,” the MEF tweeted early on Friday.

“All are assigned to the 15th MEU [Marine Expeditionary Unit]. Search and rescue efforts are still underway with support from the Navy and Coast Guard.”

The Marines, assigned to the San Diego-based 15th MEU, had been conducting a routine training exercise in coordination with the three-ship Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group and other assets assigned to the MEU. Around 5:45 p.m., the AAV reported taking on water, according to a news release from the MEF.

There were a total of 16 troops onboard the AAV: 15 Marines and one sailor. Of those, eight were able to make it out of the vehicle. One was evacuated to Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla outside of San Diego, where he was pronounced dead. Two more Marines were sent to local hospitals, where they remain. One of them is reported to be in critical condition and the other is stable, according to local reports.

The Navy and Coast Guard have initiated an extensive search and rescue operation. Four helicopters (three from the U.S. Navy and one from the U.S. Coast Guard), the USS John Finn, several small boats from the USS Makin Island, USS Somerset, and USS San Diego, as well as the Coast Guard cutter Forrest Rednour are participating in the operation.

A senior executive for pharmaceutical giant AstraZeneca has confirmed that his company cannot face legal action for any potential side effects caused by its Covid vaccine. Those affected will have no legal recourse.

AstraZeneca is one of 25 pharmaceutical companies worldwide already testing their Covid vaccines on humans, in preparation for injecting hundreds of millions of people. These are flush times for Britain’s largest pharmaceutical company, worth something in the order of £70 million. They have just reported bumper profits of $12.6 billion in the last six months alone.

But despite its healthy balance sheet, AstraZeneca is unwilling to be held responsible for any potential side effects of its ‘hopeful’ vaccine candidate. In other words, the company is completely protected, or indemnified, against lawsuits from people who are injected with their vaccine and experience negative effects, regardless of how severe or long-lasting they are.

The firm’s lawyers have demanded that clauses to that effect be put in their contracts with the countries AstraZeneca has agreed to supply with its Covid vaccine. The company says that, without such guarantees of indemnity, they would not be incentivised to produce the drug. And it seems most of the countries have ceded to this demand.

Senate committee passes bill to allow people to sue China for COVID-19 related damages

"China was negligent in dealing with the origins of the virus and deceiving the world about the nature of the virus. Americans deserve their day in court," Sen. Graham said

The Senate Judiciary Committee on Thursday approved legislation that would allow people to file lawsuits against China in federal court over damages resulting from the coronavirus pandemic.

“It is clear to me that the Chinese Communist Party deceived the world and manipulated information about coronavirus, committee chairman Lindsey Graham said. "China restricted travel within China to slow the spread, but allowed people from China to travel throughout the world increasing the spread."
