Forget about that butter flavored poison. Forget about microwave popcorn packs as well. Just make yourself some drawn butter, then put a thin layer of olive oil in a large covered cooking pot o high-med high heat.. Then put in popping corn kernels to fill the pot without having kernels on top of each other.
Put cover over pot. Gently shake pot, when the first kernels start popping vigorously shake pot. When the popping slows down to maybe 3 or 4 at at time take pot off heat. Pour popped corn into a bowl and drizzle with the drawn butter.
Drawn butter is separating the butter oil out of the fat. It's what you get when you order shrimp or lobster at restaurants. Drawn butter (oil) is also great for frying. (anon uses it for making a fancy chicken fried stake)
To make drawn butter. Take a small sauce pan, add butter in slices, set heat to low (1-1/2 on electric stove scale). In 10 minutes or so butter will be melted. Using a tablespoon skim off the white gook on the surface. Then carefully pour the deliciously yellow looking oil into a small bowl. Discard the white gook in the bottom of the pot.
