Problem is that basing conclusions that he is wrong on the assumptions we make today about the possibility of interstellar travel and so forth doesn't provide PROOF that he is wrong, it provides the OPINION that he is wrong. Pretty big difference.
You are implying that we are not individuals and should apply herd-like group-think which mean to not think for one self.
