What you term as the "deep church" is the very basis of Roman Catholicism. It is its very foundation that is the EVIL. It's only that many Catholics don't know what their own church really teaches, and many don't know the true Gospel concerning Christ's Doctrine of Justification. So no, it's not "just like" that.
