The Trump Secretary of State discussed the Chinese app TikTok, the Chinese human rights abuses and the postponed election in Hong Kong.

At the of 8:45 mark in the interview, Pompeo said the following about China’s recent strong arm tactics in Hong Kong:

Well, COVID-19 is not the reason for the delay in the election. The reason for the delay, there was scheduled to be an election in Hong Kong is September 6th. The reason for the delay is that the Chinese Communist Party candidates would be crushed and the freedom loving people of Hong Kong would prevail and the leadership in Beijing simply can’t permit that to happen.

Look, this is part of what we are seeing happen all across the threat from the Chinese Communist Party, increased denial of freedom for people in their own country and then extending that.”

China is taking over Hong Kong.

Anyone who loves freedom will soon find that the CCP doesn’t offer freedom – Period.

Election Interference: McCarthy Warns Google Using ‘Tremendous Amount of Power’ to ‘Influence What People Think or See’

House GOP leader Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) told Breitbart News exclusively this weekend that he is concerned Google is attempting to influence the 2020 presidential election with a “tremendous amount of power” it wields to control “what people think or see” through its monopoly search power.

Appearing on Breitbart News Saturday on SiriusXM 125 the Patriot Channel this weekend, McCarthy said that Breitbart News has “been at the forefront” of exposing big tech. He pointed to Breitbart News uncovering video of an internal Google meeting of senior executives in the wake of the 2016 election when they promised to use their power to make President Donald Trump and the movement that elected him a “blip” in history. Then he noted that Google has essentially monopoly control over search as 90 percent of online search traffic goes through the tech giant, and that Google has been using that power to push its worldview on the public.

“You guys have been at the forefront, and I worked closely with you even in the last election. Remember, when we were in the majority we were able to bring these CEOs in when we first discovered it,” McCarthy said. “Remember where Breitbart came out and was able to discover what happened at Google after the election. People were crying after all the actions they took, the actions they took to try to get Hillary elected. If you Googled the Republican Party of California before the primary election, they said we were ‘Nazism.’ Ninety percent of all searches on the Internet go through Google. That’s a tremendous amount of power, but now they’re utilizing it for their own personal bias and Breitbart has been on the forefront of showing that. But there was no stronger indication of it than what did Twitter do to Donald Trump Jr., even before it? Simply because he put up a video they put him like in Twitter jail. How many other things have we seen that they have done in the past? We have watched it over and over, the bias against conservative views instead of free speech.”

During a House Judiciary Committee antitrust subcommittee hearing this week, Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) pressed Google’s CEO Sundar Pichai on these matters and a subsequent Breitbart News investigation that shows Google has essentially turned off search traffic to Breitbart News ahead of the election in 2020. After the hearing, Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) followed up with an in-depth letter to Pichai to further probe into the matter with detailed questions and laying out his concerns that Pichai may has misled Congress in 2018 testimony. Cotton has also asked Attorney General Bill Barr to pursue potential antitrust violations by Google. Asked about all this and about Google’s efforts to use its market share to control what information people see ahead of the election, McCarthy said the evidence emerging seems to indicate that Google is using its power “to influence what people think or see” and to “influence an election,” something he said is “wrong” and a “real concern to me.”

Pompeo Claims TikTok-Using Americans’ Data Being Fed ‘Directly to the Chinese Communist Party’

On Friday, President Donald Trump threatened to ban TikTok through an executive order, leaving the popular Chinese video sharing platform scrambling to find a way to save its US market presence.

US Secretary Mike Pompeo has stepped up the attack on TikTok and other Chinese software companies, claiming the video service is being used by communists to spy on ordinary Americans.

“These Chinese software companies doing business in the United States, whether it's TikTok or WeChat, and there are countless more…are feeding data directly to the Chinese Communist Party, their national security apparatus,” Pompeo said, speaking to Fox News on Sunday.

“It could be their facial recognition pattern, it could be information about their residence, their phone numbers, their friends, who they’re connected to. Those are the issues that President Trump’s made clear we’re going to take care of. These are true national security issues. They're true privacy issues for the American people, and for a long time the United States just said 'well goodness if we're having fun with it or a company can make money off of it we're going to permit that to happen.' President Trump has said 'enough' and we're going to fix it,” the former CIA director added.

Pompeo said that Trump would be announcing new measures "shortly" to address “a broad array” of alleged risks presented by software companies "connected to the Chinese Communist Party," without addressing what these were.

Pompeo also criticized US tech companies which have recently downplayed the White House’s allegations about the theft of US technology by the Chinese, calling it “crazy talk.”

Earlier, Trump trade advisor Peter Navarro warned Americans that "all the data that goes into those mobile apps that kids have so much fun with, and seem so convenient, it goes right to servers in China, right to the Chinese military, the Chinese Communist Party and the agencies that want to steal our intellectual property."

The White House has not yet followed through with its threat to ban TikTok, even though President Trump said he had the authority to do so on Friday and indicated that he might sign an executive order to that effect as soon as Saturday.
