The bishops make it clear that the Church distinguishes between the unethical sourcing of vaccines in the present day and the use of historical cell-lines which were derived from aborted foetuses in the 1970s. They reiterate the Church’s moral position in opposing the production of vaccines using such tissue and acknowledge the distress many Catholics experience when faced with a choice of not vaccinating their child or seeming to be complicit in abortion.

However, the bishops reiterate Church teaching that “the paramount importance of the health of a child and other vulnerable persons could permit parents to use a vaccine which was in the past developed using these diploid cell lines.”

The paper echoes a note published by the Holy See’s Pontifical Academy for Life in 2017 that states “all clinically recommended vaccinations can be used with a clear conscience and that the use of such vaccines does not signify some sort of cooperation with voluntary abortion.”

Two Citgo executives detained in Venezuela moved to house arrest, U.S. diplomat Bill Richardson says

CARACAS - Two of the six former Citgo Petroleum Corp executives detained in Venezuela were moved to house arrest, veteran U.S. diplomat Bill Richardson said late on Thursday, weeks after he visited the country to seek their release.

The former New Mexico governor and U.S. ambassador to the United Nations traveled to Caracas and met with socialist President Nicolás Maduro earlier this month as part of a private humanitarian mission on behalf of the families of American prisoners in Venezuela.

The two prisoners moved to house arrest, Gustavo Cardenas and Jorge Toledo, were among the six arrested in 2017 on charges of embezzlement that the U.S. government and their lawyers say are baseless. Five of the executives of Citgo, the U.S. refining unit of Venezuela’s state oil company, have American citizenship.

‘LIKE PROUD PARENTS’ Epstein and Maxwell ‘praised sex slave for “really good” Prince Andrew performance’

JEFFREY Epstein and his alleged "pimp" Ghislaine Maxwell praised a sex slave like "two proud parents" for her performance with Prince Andrew, it’s alleged.

Newly released court documents contain allegations made by Virginia Giuffre that she was paid nearly $1,000 for spending two days alone with Andrew.

Hundreds of pages of court files have been made public today after a New York judge unsealed them last Thursday as the case continues against Maxwell over her role as Epstein's alleged "madam".

The documents, which were part of a 2015 defamation claim by Ms Giuffre against Maxwell, were released despite efforts by the incarcerated socialite to keep them secret.

The files contain allegations made by Ms Giuffre that she was instructed to spend two days with the Duke at Epstein’s 7,559-acre Zorro ranch near Sante Fe, New Mexico in 2001.

In the court documents, she wrote: "My job was to entertain him endlessly, whether that meant having to bestow him my body during an erotic massage or simply take him horseback riding.

"The mansion was completely empty save a couple of maids who also cooked our dinners for us, and a couple of bodyguards that we hardly even saw at all."

When it was over Ms Giuffre – who was 17 or 18 at the time – alleged she felt "disgusted" and was then "debriefed" by Maxwell and Epstein.

She wrote: "Like two proud parents they both looked over me with such content… 'Good, you did really well,' Jeffrey complimented me.

"We all ventured up to Jeffrey's office and out came the infamous duffel bag that went wherever he did.

"I was given close to a thousand dollars for my time in Santa Fe, more than what I thought anybody at my young age could make for a couple days of work."

Ms Giuffre claims to also have had sex with the Duke at Maxwell's house in London, at Epstein's mansion in New York and on his private island of Little Saint James.

Andrew has yet to speak to the FBI about Epstein, who killed himself in jail last August, aged 66.

But the British royal vigorously denies any wrongdoing and does not recall ever meeting Giuffre.

During her lawsuit against Maxwell, whom she claimed recruited her as a sexual servant for Epstein, a judge struck out the allegations against Andrew as "lurid", "immaterial and impertinent".
