OK, re-purpose school buildings. Homeless veteran dormatory space has priority. The kitchens can serve to teach culinary classes. Gymnasiums can serve as emergency shelters. Rooftop gardens in the inner cities for when the truck drivers stop showing up.
End Public Education, enact Universal Conscription starting at age 15. If the Military needs someone to read a manual, the Military will teach those personnel how to read. Those who can afford to send their kids out of the country for education can do so with federal aid. Those remaining inside the country may be home schooled or purchase online learning from an approved company. Teachers may now consider themselves mostly surplus workers from an obsolete industry, watch the unions dry up.
