I still am gobsmacked over the utter desperation of the revolt against Trump … I guess that's why I'm here

but 2016 was 1860.

-Both wars started upon the election of the unacceptable candidate

-Both wars started by an elite who had been on top for decades, and acted to pre-empt their loss of power

(but the southerners thought the north wouldn't put up much of a fight and were wrong)

-Both divided families and friends

-only ended with the complete defeat of one side
