I too suffered a neck injury in a car accident. It took me two years to recover to 90%. I would recommend daily curcumin and krill oil for pain and anti-inflammatory in place of pharma drugs. Krill oil was shown by med. study to have same pain reduction (and anti-inflammation) for rheumatoid arthritis as non-steroidal pain meds. I can feel a huge difference when I don't take these natural pills.
Krill oil can also help stabalize mood to some extent (as can magnesium and macca root - a south american root vegetable related to broccoli). Eating turkey once or more per week also helps with depression as does gluten free/low carb diet.
I would recommend checking out a well-respected naturopath in your area for a good health recovery plan for you and your spouse, and little one. Conventional medicine has its place but chronic conditions need alternative treatment usually.
