Background/attendees for 2:00PM Ivanka/Bill Barr "Human Trafficking Roundtable"

Ivanka Trump and AG Bill Barr are hosting a roundtable on the administration's steps to combat human trafficking this afternoon. The event is scheduled to begin at 2:00 pm ET, and the White House passed along the following background info and list of attendees.

Background from a White House Official:

On Tuesday, August 4, Advisor to the President Ivanka Trump will join Attorney General William Barr, Acting Director of the Domestic Policy Council Brooke Rollins, Special Advisor for Human Trafficking Heather Fischer, executives from organizations that combat human trafficking and survivors from across the country for a roundtable to highlight newly awarded Department of Justice grants to provide safe, stable housing to survivors of human trafficking.

Announced at the top of the roundtable, the Office for Victims of Crime, a component of the Department of Justice’s Office of Justice Programs, will award over $35 million in Housing Assistance Grants for Victims of Human Trafficking to provide supportive housing and appropriate services to survivors of human trafficking. The grants will go to 73 organizations across the United States to provide six to twenty-four months of transitional or short-term housing assistance for trafficking victims, including rental, utilities or related expenses, such as security deposits and relocation costs. The grants will also provide funding for support needed to help victims locate permanent housing, secure employment and receive occupational training and counseling.

During the roundtable, the principals, survivors and executives will deliver remarks and highlight the impact of this funding.

QUOTE:

“In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, combating human trafficking in the U.S. and abroad is critical work. DOJ’s grant recipients are on the frontlines of this fight, ensuring that survivors across our country are afforded safe and stable housing and empowered with the support and resources they need to rebuild their lives. I am incredibly honored to join Attorney General Barr to highlight these organizations and their tireless and vital work.” – Advisor to the President Ivanka Trump
