Anyone else notice that the photo is a mirrored half? The left half of the picture is the right, it's just flipped, horizontally. Look at the numbers written in chalk (?) at either side of the bottom of the picture: 159, then 159 flipped top to bottom (due to how the numbers are written).
The kid looks 'off' and this is part of the reason why. People aren't truly symmetrical on their right/left sides, so taking your left or right side and then mirroring it and superimposing it over the other side of you would result in a picture that looks like an eerie doppelganger version of you. Thus the creepy look of the child, itself.
Having one left/right flip, then the 45º rotation of the numbers which results in a top/bottom flip when they're mirrored is an interesting combination.
Overall, a left/right mirroring is reminiscent of a Rorschach test.
Also, there might be something more to it than just a creepy mirrored photo.
Any special meaning to the number 159?
