I think you under-counted. Last I heard, the number was above 50% ... and the last few record-setting runs on the retail stocks would suggest that the percentage has gone up now.
The only concern I have about that is that reasoning dictates that it is the libs who are setting the current records -- most of the rest of us armed up a long time ago. F&D, F&D.

And I've been to one full of old HUGE steam engines and machinery -- Henry Ford Museum up in Dearborn. Pretty amazing shit, particularly when you realize that at least some of the two-story gearing was laid out with string, chalk and a rigorous application of shop floor math. Having done a smattering of such work, I have nothing but adulation for the guys who came ahead of me long before micrometers were invented. (Yeah, I can still spot a bearing in. That never leaves you.)
