The orange color of the plume suggests nitrate. But it does not rule out the possibility that more than one explosive device(s) or tech was/were involved. An analysis of the residue from the site would confirm if a nuke was used perhaps in addition to nitrate. Don’t hold your breath waiting for an honest report.

Could be. I would have to go back through the drops. I seem to recall (can’t remember from where) that after the collapse of the USSR, there were some missing Russian nukes that ended up on the black market via Ukraine. I think they ended up in the hands of the Iranians. I believe some were recovered and returned but I’m not sure how many in total there were. Apparently BHO supplied them with half a dozen ‘Davy Crocketts’ (miniature tactical nukes).
