A trio of 15-year-old boys scaled a wall outside US President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida carrying a loaded AK-47 in a backpack, in what police say was a desperate attempt to evade arrest.

The three teens were taken into custody soon after they breached the walls around the resort on Friday, according to Palm Beach Police spokesman Michael Ogrodnick, who said the boys tried to dump a backpack containing a loaded semi-automatic Mini Draco AK-47 with a 14-round magazine. He added that the suspects likely did not know where they were at the time, however.

“Honestly, I really don’t believe they even realized where they were in terms of location and proximity to Mar-a-Lago,” Ogrodnick said, suggesting they did not deliberately break into the president’s club, which is closed for the summer. The spokesman noted that the teens are fortunate Trump was not on site, as they may have been shot by Secret Service agents.

The three youths were initially seen in a parked car in the early hours of Friday some two miles north of Mar-a-Lago, local media said, citing a police report. They fled when an officer attempted a traffic stop and eventually ended up on foot, scaling a wall surrounding the club grounds. Police used a helicopter and a K-9 unit to locate the teens, who did not attempt to enter any buildings on the resort. They claim they found the loaded weapon, and as of Wednesday police have no leads on its owner.

The boys all remain in custody at a juvenile detention facility, each charged with trespassing with a firearm, burglary with a firearm and resisting arrest without violence. The State Attorney’s Office has yet to decide whether they will face felony charges as adults.

(CNN)As Lebanon's investigation into the devastating blast in Beirut continues, officials have pointed to a possible cause: A massive shipment of agricultural fertilizer that authorities say was stored in the port of Beirut without safety precautions for years – despite warnings by local officials.

Documents newly reviewed by CNN reveal that a shipment of 2,750 metric tons of ammonium nitrate arrived in Beirut on a Russian-owned vessel in 2013. The ship, named the MV Rhosus, was destined for Mozambique – but stopped in Beirut due to financial difficulties that also created unrest with the ship's Russian and Ukrainian crew.

Once it arrived, the ship never left Beirut's port, according Lebanon's Director of Customs, Badri Daher, despite repeated warnings by him and others that the cargo was the equivalent of "a floating bomb."

"Due to the extreme danger posed by this stored items in unsuitable climate conditions, we reiterate our request to the Port Authorities to re-export the goods immediately to maintain the safety of the port and those working in it," Daher's predecessor, Chafic Merhi, wrote in a 2016 letter addressed to a judge involved in the case.

Lebanese authorities have not named the MV Rhosus as the source of the substance that ultimately exploded in Beirut on Tuesday, but Prime Minister Hassan Diab said the devastating blast was caused by 2,750 tons of ammonium nitrate. He added that the substance had been stored for six years at the port warehouse without safety measures, "endangering the safety of citizens."

Lebanon's general security chief also said a "highly explosive material" had been confiscated years earlier and stored in the warehouse, which is just a few minutes' walk from Beirut's shopping and nightlife districts. Tuesday's massive explosion, which rocked the capital, left at least 135 dead and 5,000 injured.

In 2013, the MV Rhosus set off from Batumi, Georgia, destined for Mozambique, according to the vessel's path and the account of its captain Boris Prokoshev.

It was carrying 2,750 metric tons of ammonium nitrate, an industrial chemical commonly used around the world as a fertilizer – and in explosives for mining.

The Moldovan-flagged ship stopped in Greece to refuel. That's when the ship's owner told the Russian and Ukrainian sailors that he had run out of money and they would have to pick up additional cargo to cover the travel costs – which led them on a detour to Beirut.

Spot Silver Surges Above $28, Still Historically Undervalued To Gold

The spot price of the white metal gained even more than silver futures last month. When gold pushed above its previous record price last week, silver went along for the ride, rising to nearly $26 an ounce. It has settled back and is currently trading in the $24 range. On June 29, silver closed at just over $18 an ounce. That’s a 33% gain on the month. Going back to March, the white metal was below $12.

Former US Mint director Ed Moy told MarketWatch silver is going up for the same reason as gold.

What is driving gold prices now are mainly the fear of inflation due to the magnitude of the monetary and fiscal stimulus worldwide, and the flight to safety due to the uncertainty around how and when the global economy will recover.”

Moy pointed out that the silver-gold ratio remains historically wide. That means either gold is overvalued or silver is undervalued. If silver is underpriced, “there is a lot of money to be made,” he told MarketWatch.

Given the economic dynamics, it seems far more likely silver will climb to close the gap rather than the price of gold dropping.

The silver-gold ratio is simply the number of ounces of silver it takes to buy one ounce of gold. It has been historically high for months. It was well over 100-1 back in March.

Ross Norman, CEO of Metals Daily, told MarketWatch:

“It has been clear for some time that silver was excessively cheap compared to gold.”

He agreed that the ratio is still historically high, “suggesting there is scope for greater gains in silver still.”

Lilly Wachowski confirms 'Matrix' series is a transgender allegory

The co-director of the popular "Matrix" trilogy Lilly Wachowski confirmed that the sci-fi series is a transgender allegory.

Responding to a question posed about this Matrix fan theory, Wachowski said she was “glad that it has gotten out that that was the original intention.”

“The world wasn’t quite ready yet,” Wachowski said during a Netflix video interview that was posted Tuesday. “The corporate world wasn’t ready for it.”

Lilly Wachowski and her sister Lana Wachowski, both trans women, together created the "Matrix" franchise and directed the first three films, released between 1999 and 2003. Lana is directing the fourth "Matrix" film herself, currently slated for a 2022 release.

The theory that the films are a trans allegory has flourished since Lana and Lilly both came out as trans after the films were released. Lilly herself alluded to that possibility in the acceptance speech for a 2016 GLAAD award for her Netflix series "Sense8."

In the YouTube video posted Tuesday, Wachowski said she loves how “meaningful” the films are to transgender people.
