Little search engine dig
Recently I wanted to look up something on a tablet that I rarely use on a website that I don't visit that often.
But I had not put a link to it on the tablet.
So I searched for the approximate terms in my standard search engine Duckduckgo.
I had done this several times before and it was no problem to find them.
But this time I had a problem - the page was not displayed in the search terms.
At first I thought I had twisted something there.
Later I found out - no, nothing twisted, Duckduckgo does not show the page anymore
Duckduckgo is now manipulating search results just like Google, Bing and all that other crap.
So I did a little test. I entered the exact address of the searched website into the search mask of various search engines and looked at the results.
I scrolled up to the 4th result page.
Google - on the 4 first result pages nothing is shown
Duckduckgo - nothing is displayed on the first 4 result pages
Bing - nothing is displayed on the first 4 result pages
Yandex - as it should be - right away as the first result
metager.de - also OK - was displayed as 5th result
If you want to have fast and reasonable search results without using the search syntax, it is best to do without:
Google, Bing, Duckduckgo.
The Russian Yandex.com brings good results, especially with images.
There they are in my opinion even leading. What's annoying are their stupid Captchas…
In the meantime I have learned to appreciate the sometimes confusing meta search engine Metager.
Sometimes you have to scroll a bit, but I always found what I was looking for.
This is now my default search engine.
By the way, the page I was looking for was:
concept-veritas.com.
