Yes, I've noticed that pattern, too. I thought Toots was "dead" but then again, who can ever be sure, lol.

Well, I never wanted to ask, kek, but it got to a point where I was thinking that one of them might be a "good guy" trying to defend us but now that I think about it… nah.

By: The Associated Press MARK GILLISPIE August 6, 2020

CLEVELAND — A lengthy FBI agent affidavit detailing an alleged $60 million corruption scheme led by one of Ohio's most powerful elected officials provides painstaking detail about groups and individuals who played roles in spending mostly corporate cash. Only one of those groups is specifically named: Generation Now, a purported slush fund controlled by since-ousted Republican …

Generation Now, a secretive political money group, is bankrolling the ad campaign, Federal Elections Commission records show. And the buys – more than $225,000 — are being made by Strategic Media Placement, a Delaware County firm run by GOP operative Rex Elsass.

"The conspiracy was to pass and maintain a $1.5 billion bailout in return for $61 million in dark money," U.S. Attorney David DeVillers said.

FBI Pittsburgh’s New Special Agent In Charge To Tackle Foreign Election Interference And More

There's focus on foreign interference in the election, cyber crime, gang violence and the opioid crisis.

By Lindsay Ward August 6, 2020 at 1:29 pm

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – FBI Pittsburgh has a new special agent in charge. On Thursday morning, he was introduced to a room full of media and shared the issues Pittsburgh is tackling.

“At heart I am a FBI agent, I think like an agent,” said FBI Pittsburgh Special Agent in Charge Mike Christman.

Mike Christman has an impressive resume with the FBI. He’s been with agency for 28 years and has worked in their Utah, Ohio, West Virginia and Pennsylvania offices.

“My travels across the bureau — Pittsburgh has a reputation for being proactive, innovative and high-performing,” said Christman.

He went into great detail about the relationships that are right here in Pittsburgh. It’s something that he’s never really seen before in his experience, and it’s those relationships that are helping them tackle some serious issues, like cyber crime.

“We’re also looking at foreign interference with respect to the election. So that is an ongoing effort by this task force that we have,” said Christman.

He also points out the violent crime and gang problems in city and the opioid addiction. From his first time working in Pittsburgh years ago, to now, he says the drug problem hasn’t necessarily worsened, but has changed.

“We’re now seeing methamphetamine here and I would say we see a re-emergence of cocaine and crack cocaine as well.”

Mail-In Voting: Brookline Sends Some Residents The Wrong Ballot

August 6, 2020 at 1:28 pm

BROOKLINE (CBS) – The town of Brookline has sent incorrect mail-in ballots to approximately 30 voters.

According to Town Administrator Mel Kleckner, about 30 people who wanted a mail-in ballot for the state’s September primary received a ballot for the wrong party.

“We regret this error and are working collaboratively with the Secretary of State’s Office to understand how it happened and are committed to correcting it to ensure that every voter who wishes to vote in the upcoming state primary is able to do so,” Kleckner said.

Kleckner said while the town clerk’s office and the Elections Division of the Office of the Secretary of State are investigating how the mistake happened, staff have been retrained and procedures have changed to ensure the correct ballots are mailed out in the future. So far, the town has sent out about 7,000 ballots.

Brookline voters who received mail-in ballots for the primary should check to make sure they have the correct ballot. The town has posted sample ballots on its website for comparison. If there is an error, voters should call the town clerk’s office.

Friday Stimulus Deadline Approaching With No Deal Expected Until Next Week

Aug 6, 2020,02:02pm EDT

Tomorrow is the self-imposed deadline that has been set for stimulus package negotiations, and it remains unclear whether a deal will be reached in time. Congress is slated to take the rest of the month off when their August recess begins at the end of the week. If a bill is to be passed by the end of the month, Congress will have to continue working during the scheduled break.

"Our objective is to try to reach an understanding of the major issues by Friday," Secretary Mnuchin said to reporters earlier in the week. "If we can't reach an agreement on the major issues, it's going to be hard to complete a deal."

The Democrat-led House of Representatives passed the HEROES Act by a vote of 217-189 on May 15, 2020. The GOP-led Senate has refused to consider the HEROES Act and announced its own proposal in the form of the HEALS Act.

In comparison, the HEROES Act is more substantial and does not include liability protection for businesses. The HEROES Act calls for continued expanded unemployment benefits of $600 per week and $1,200 stimulus checks for individuals and dependents. The HEROES Act also extends the eviction moratorium to help keep Americans in their homes.

The HEALS Act reduces the unemployment supplement to $200 for two months while states implement a system that would cap unemployment benefits at 70% of workers' previous wages. The GOP's proposed act does include $1,200 stimulus checks but only allocates $500 for dependents. This proposal doesn't address the eviction moratorium, but President Trump has signaled willingness to curb evictions via executive action. A key component of the HEALS Act is liability protection for businesses, which the GOP sees as a way to expedite the reopening of the economy.

It appears that the two sides are pretty far apart, and there is no consensus among Republican senators. Some senators are worried about the ballooning national deficit, which is hitting record levels. Other politicians worry that extending the extra $600 unemployment benefit will discourage workers from returning to jobs. A July report by researchers at Yale University found that expanded unemployment benefits did not lead to higher layoffs or "discourage workers from returning to their jobs over time."

Trump tees up student loan executive action

The president's threat of executive action comes as negotiations remain stalled on Capitol Hill over another economic rescue package.

By MICHAEL STRATFORD 08/06/2020 02:05 PM EDT

President Donald Trump announced Thursday that he is preparing executive action on student loan payments as emergency relief for nearly 40 million federal student loan borrowers is set to expire in eight weeks.

Trump previously said he was eyeing options for extending the suspension of monthly student loan payments. But the president had not indicated until Thursday whether he would take executive action or work with Congress on legislation to that end.

“Upon departing the Oval Office for Ohio, I’ve notified my staff to continue working on an Executive Order with respect to Payroll Tax Cut, Eviction Protections, Unemployment Extensions, and Student Loan Repayment Options,” Trump tweeted.

It’s not clear what the president’s executive action on student loans would entail. Trump in March unilaterally suspended interest on federally held student loans. The CARES Act, H.R. 748 (116), then codified that policy into law in March and took it a step further, automatically suspending monthly payments.

Trump’s threat of executive action comes as negotiations remain stalled on Capitol Hill over another economic rescue package to address the fallout from the coronavirus pandemic.

They really searched hard to come up with such a flattering photo of the President! Idiots!
