Fertilizer plants explode all the time during fires. Ammonium nitrate can and will explosively decompose all on its own.

Note that the chemical fertilizer in the screenshot in the second video features bags much like what we saw in the warehouse.
Frankly, I don't see how it could be allowed to wait until the election. At this point - the election is a sham. Even if we agree that the President wins, the reason President Trump wins the election is not because we, the people, have truly selected the representatives of our government or taken back control of it… but because the only other option was quite literally suicide.
We can vote for rioters coming to our homes and police/military who JOIN WITH THE RIOTERS TO HARM PEOPLE - or we can choose literally anything else for the sake of what in the unholy fuck is going on.
Which is where we are. That's not an election - it's a survival instinct.
There's really no need to even pretend there is an election - if you don't get it by now, you probably won't ever. Deliver the shock troops to arrest people, let's pray it isn't us and fight back if it's a betrayal, and then dine on the flesh of our adversaries because all the meat processing plants are shut down.
I'm being a bit ridiculous - but my point is that all of this was likely to occur before the election and there simply won't be an election.
Why would people decide to order the police to arrest people for being outside? Why would those police actually do such a thing?
I always keep in mind the possibility that someone is plotting the exact opposite of what they are presenting themselves as. It's a logical requirement when dealing with humans that you are not caught without a plan if they are doing the opposite of what you expect. This includes people you think are out to get you, as well.
As for how long all of it could take? Kind of unknown. The "first arrest" is difficult to pin down. Some think it's Maxwell - I'm not so sure. In either event - the question for how long it takes depends upon exactly what "it" is. In principle - a nation of laws would file indictments for and process, at least through tribunal, the accused through a process of judicial review of their case. In reality - I'm not so sure that is how it will play out. Tensions are already rather high and it would not surprise me in the slightest if we start seeing people actively revolt against things like mask and lockdown orders - to a lethal tune - evidence released federally that they were involved in or complicit with a criminal conspiracy would only embolden what would amount to vigilante justice.
There are also other possibilities - such as the proverbial cabal dispatching agents to eliminate loose ends before they are arrested. The cabal may, effectively, in an attempt to protect itself, exterminate itself except for a few members here and there.
