WATCH THE WATER: BOOM!!!

SEAFARER ABANDONMENT problem.

This is interdasting, article goes into the global problem of abandoned ships, cargo, and crew. The ammonium nitrate in the beirut warehouse was offloaded 7 years ago from the ship Rhosus, after it was abandoned en route to Mozambique or somewhere. The article goes on to explain there are other problem ships that are equally dangerous, in places such as ports and canals.

The reason this rings true for me is because I do have a seafarer friend, who is currently 'stuck' on his contract in the Mediterranean. They cannot come home yet because muh Covid. There are only a few cities where the crew is allowed to disembark, and they have not been able to fly home.

I wonder how many ships could be ticking time bombs out there, or pre-positioned by the [DS] fuckers to 'blow' at the opportune time. This could be some serious shit.

Here is an excerpt from the article:

Today, abandoned ships and seafarers pose various kinds of threats all over the globe. Even as the world’s attention is on Beirut, a similar disaster is looming in another part of the Middle East. The FSO Safer, a tanker used as a floating oil storage facility off the coast of Yemen, was abandoned years ago when the Yemeni company maintaining the vessel ceased operating during the war. This potential floating bomb in one of the world’s busiest shipping lanes is miles from shore, yet an explosion could devastate the environment and hinder all marine traffic through the Red Sea, Bab el-Mandeb strait, and Suez Canal.

There are relatively few ships that threaten such acute disasters, but there are hundreds of thousands of seafarers who are directly affected by issues of abandonment at sea. Individual incidents of seafarer abandonment rarely attract public attention, yet cumulatively they represent an enormous problem in the global shipping industry. FONASBA estimates 1.2 million seafarers are spread across 55,000 ships each day, and each of them is subject to the decisions made by shipping companies, port managers, and immigration authorities in port states while on board. The seafarers that are left abandoned on vessels are disproportionately drawn from poor countries with inadequate capacity or political will to come to their assistance.

The problem has become more severe during the COVID-19 pandemic. The sudden economic crisis has caused shipping companies to abandon their vessels and most countries have enacted strict border controls that disallow foreign seafarers from disembarking in ports. As a result, tens of thousands of seafarers are currently trapped at sea right now. These seafarers are at a very high risk of contracting and spreading the coronavirus while onboard.

(watch the water- maritime/admirality/Law of the Sea are generally referred to as International Law, Cabal uses this strategically because it is a legal and peer recognized system- may have seen the postmaster stuff, same idea using international law to gain power/jurisdication in a codified way.

Ports are sovereign to a degree and in ways outside jurisdiction of the nations that host them, not sure of particulars but cabal uses them around the world as their forts in a sense)

Update (1920ET): Ohio Governor Mike DeWine has tested negative for COVID-19, just hours after testing positive before he was set to meet with President Trump in Cleveland.

His wife, Fran DeWine, also tested negative along with several staff members - after they all underwent a more accurate testing method in Columbus, vs. the rapid-result test which showed DeWine to be positive earlier in the day, according to AP.

DeWine, an early advocate among Republicans of wearing masks and other pandemic precautions, said he took a test arranged by the White House in Cleveland as part of standard protocol before he was to meet Trump at an airport. He had planned to join the president on a visit to the Whirlpool Corp. plant in northwest Ohio.

Instead, he received the news he was positive, called his wife, Fran DeWine, and returned to central Ohio where he took the other test that showed him to be negative.

“A big surprise to me and certainly a big surprise to our family,” DeWine said at a late afternoon news conference broadcast from his porch on his farm in Cedarville in southwestern Ohio, where he planned to quarantine for 14 days. -AP

The 73-year-old DeWine said he didn't know how he could have contracted the virus, as he's been spending most of his time on his farm.

Update (1730ET): A developing trend of declining daily case numbers out of the US took a breather on Thursday as BBG and JHU reported a 1.3% preliminary daily increase to 4.85 million, slightly larger than the 1.2% 7-day average.

However, that headline number masked some promising details. California’s new cases stayed below the 14-day average, and Florida’s rate of positive tests fell to the lowest level since June 21. Florida reported 510,389 cases, up 1.5% from a day earlier, compared with an average increase of 1.6% in the previous seven days. Deaths reached 7,747, an increase of 120, or 2.4%.

The most notably daily increase in the US comes out of Illinois, where the state reported its biggest single-day case tally since May 24, with an 11% bump over the previous day, or 1,953 new cases. The seven-day rate of positive tests rose to 4% from 3.9%. Though the state reported 21 deaths, down from 30 a day earlier.

However, California reported 166 new deaths on Thursday, exceeding the 14-day average of 132, and bringing the Golden State's total to 9,869. Across Cali, there were 5,258 new cases, below the 14-day average of 7,455 and extending a decline that started more than 2 weeks ago when cases peaked north of 12,000.

Even outside the US, Thursday afternoon was big for COVID-19-related news. France reported 1,604 new cases, marking the first time since April that the country has reported more than 1,600 cases for 2 days straight.

Another seven deaths were also reported, bringing France's total to 30,312, according to the French Health Ministry.

Iowa's Republican Gov Kim Reynolds warned she’d overrule any local officials who impose requirements on mask-wearing outdoors.

"We don’t believe during a public health emergency that the local governments have the authority to supersede what is in place at the statewide level by the governor,” Reynolds said.

Texas reported 306 new deaths statewide, with some of the new deaths dating back as far as June 4. Now, there are 7,803 total. The state also reported 7,598 new cases, bringing Texas's total to 467,485.

Meanwhile, here's Goldman's latest daily COVID-19 tracker, which after the data reported in the US this afternoon, as most states continue to see a decline in new cases.

made me think of: Gold shall destroy fed?

Russia’s Largest Bank, Sberbank, Is Considering Issuing its Own Stablecoin after Country Introduces New Crypto Law

Russia’s largest banking institution, Sberbank, is reportedly looking into whether it should launch its own stablecoin, which are digital currencies that are pegged or backed by real-world assets, major fiat currencies, or commodities such as gold.

Sergey Popov, director of state-owned Sberbank’s transaction business, said that the institution is considering issuing its own stablecoin which might be pegged 1-to-1 to the Russian ruble.

If launched, the bank’s stablecoin would comply with Russia’s recently introduced cryptocurrency law, according to local news outlet Kommersant. The stablecoin, which is still under consideration, might be used for settlements that involve other digital or virtual financial assets.

Popov said that Sberbank could issue the state-backed stablecoin in accordance with the nation’s new cryptocurrency law, known as “On Digital Financial Assets” (DFA).

Popov remarked:

“We probably may issue a stablecoin on the basis of the law that has been adopted recently. As we can peg this stablecoin to the ruble, this token could become a basis or an instrument for settlements involving other digital financial assets.”

On July 31, 2020, Russian president, Vladimir Putin, signed the nation’s DFA bill into law. The bill prohibits the country’s residents from conducting transactions with Bitcoin (BTC) and other cryptocurrencies.

As reported, the new law will become effective from January 1, 2021. The DFA was first proposed back in 2018. The new legislation will legalize crypto-to-crypto trading platforms, and will also permit purchasing and selling cryptos. People will also be able to use cryptos for loans.

The new legal framework for digital assets aims to differentiate between digital securities and digital currencies. The statute, Federal Law No. 259-FZ, is referred to as “On Digital Financial Assets, Digital Currency and Amendments into Certain Statutes of the Russian Federation.”

Crowdfund Insider received a note from the law firm of Buzko Legal, based in Moscow, explaining the new law. Roman Buzko, the Managing Partner of the firm, says the issuance, record-keeping, promotion, and exchange of digital financial assets (or DFAs) is regulated in a very detailed manner.

In brief, while digital currencies are not considered legal tender they are treated as property and will be regulated separately. The law states that cryptocurrency may not be utilized as payment for goods and services – even while issuance and trading will be allowed.

The regulation of digital financial assets are more akin to what you would expect with securities. “DFA” are not necessarily issued nor exchanged via distributed ledgers, explains Buzko.

Issuing platforms must adhere to a regulatory framework and comply with record-keeping requirements as well as AML/KYC rules.

In July 2020, Sberbank announced the launch of SberPay, which is a new system for payment services. According to Sberbank, SberPay allows users to pay for purchases both online and offline.

In May 2020, Sberbank called on suppliers to provide 4,917 ATMs that come with graphic cards to perform “blockchain operations.”
