Why didn’t the WH mobilize a crack statistical / data science task force months ago? The flagrant misrepresentations, state by state, could have been dismantled long before now.
This is public data of great significance. It should have been scrubbed and made part of the official record. Such a process would at least have put the states and the media on notice regarding their own reporting.
If this were going on in the background, why keep silent about it?
As a point of principle, the executive branch has a responsibility to do precisely this kind of thing to inform appropriate policy responses. Not to do so, especially given the politicization of information, is an abdication of that responsibility.
A banker/economist that doesn’t understand basic cost/benefit trade offs.
