New Testament doctrine comes from interpreting the Old Testament in light of Christ and the cross, as well as from the childish riddles in the Hebrew language itself. Elsewhere, I have shared that Yeshua is a pun to Ya-shuach, which means 'God humbled; speaking of his incarnation. In this way; by the pun, Yeshua fulfills the prophecy that Jesus would be called Emmanuel (God with us). It makes no sense without the pun, since they are different names.
God is love. This doctrine also is derived from puns. Father, in Hebrew is 'ab'. One Hebrew word in for love is 'ahabah'. There are two ways to get a hint of the pun, if you don't get it already. One is the pun between 'ab' and a shortened and softened 'ahabah'. The other is to use the reversal of 'ab'; say 'ab-ba' which means 'Father comes' in Hebrew. And hear it as 'ahabah'.
Things are in the New Testament BECAUSE they are in the mystery (prophetic riddles) of the Old.
Hebrew scholars generally hate this because puns and riddles are imprecise, but scripture was written for children.
The word for love 'ahabah' אהבה, also means 'the creator אis not understood; his revelation to man ב is not understood.' Even when you do not understand God, the creator, nor his revelation, you are still loved by him.
Unfortunately, many religionists have portrayed God as one who hates you because of your sin. Your sin is not the first thing on God's mind. He took care of that already.
Ro 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
God is love.
The riddles of the cross were placed in the OT 4000 years before the cross.
