Moving US troops ‘closer to Russia’s border’ is necessary to ensure ‘collective security’, Pentagon claims

Criticisms of the US troop reduction in Germany are unwarranted, Mark Esper has said, claiming that many of these forces are simply being relocated further east in order to serve as a more effective ‘deterrent’ against Russia.

The Pentagon chief said in an interview with Fox News that military personnel leaving Germany would be put to better use once they are stationed along Russia’s border.

“We are moving many troops further east, closer to Russia’s border, to deter them,” he said, adding that moving troops eastward is only logical because “the border has shifted as the alliance has grown.”

He also accused Germany of not paying its “fair share” for defense, noting that the NATO ally was still the largest “recipient” of US troops.

“It is collective security, it is about our collective responsibility to stand up to the Russians,” Esper argued.

The Pentagon is planning to withdraw a third of its forces stationed in Germany. The troops will be redeployed across other NATO countries, including Poland. Romania and the Baltic states could also receive a boost in US forces, Esper said.

The defense secretary has been vocal about his belief that NATO members should be coughing up more cash in order to “deter” Russia. He even suffered an unfortunate gaffe in one of his recent sales pitches, after stating in a speech that sharing the alliance’s financial burden would help “avoid peace in Europe.”

‘Large wave’ of DDoS attacks hits KGB & Interior Ministry websites in Belarus on presidential election day

Cyber-attacks on state institutions and widespread problems with internet access were reported in Belarus on Sunday, as citizens go to the polls to elect the country’s president.

A “large wave” of cyber-attacks was launched on Saturday evening and continued on Sunday, the country’s cyber-crime watchdog reported. The distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) method was used, which disrupts the normal operation of websites by flooding them with traffic and oftentimes making them inaccessible.

The websites of the State Security Committee (KGB) and the Interior Ministry were attacked. However, the attacks were “repulsed,” the authorities said.

Meanwhile, on the day of the election, many users suddenly began experiencing problems online in different parts of the country, with some complaining that they could not access YouTube, visit certain websites, and upload files to Telegram. RT and Sputnik Editor-in-Chief Margarita Simonyan tweeted that the staff at Sputnik’s office in Minsk could not use messengers and YouTube as well.

The highly contentious election campaign has drawn international attention due to several controversies and large-scale anti-government protests. As incumbent President Alexander Lukashenko seeks a sixth term in office, the opposition has accused him of cracking down on rivals.

Lukashenko has repeatedly claimed that foreign forces were planning to incite violence in Belarus. Earlier in August, he said that several US citizens were detained, suspected of having links to the State Department. The US did not comment on the news of its nationals being detained.

Also, authorities detained a group of Russian citizens shortly before the vote, saying that they had tried to destabilize the situation in the country. Moscow said they were employees of a private security company and their stay in Minsk had nothing to do with Belarusian domestic affairs.

The Central Election Committee head, Lidia Yermoshina, said that as of 12am local time, the turnout was 54 percent.

British Man Arrested For Filming Migrants Being Loaded Onto Coaches In Dover

A British YouTuber was arrested after he tried to live stream footage of boat migrants being loaded onto coaches in Dover before they are taken to be accommodated in hotels at taxpayer expense.

A citizen reporter who goes by the name Active Patriot was recording the scene from a public car park when he was aggressively approached by police.

“I’m showing the world what is going on mate,” says the reporter, to which the officer responds, ” I think the world knows.”

“Do they really? They don’t know what extent, though do they?” Active Patriot responds.

At first the officer claims he is arresting the man for trespassing but then suddenly changes the reason to “breaching the peace.”

After the man complains that his arm hurts even though he is not resisting arrest, the officer responds, “Give me your arm, or I’ll put you on the ground.”

Steve Laws, another citizen reporter who has been documenting the migrant arrivals, told Politicalite, “I saw 74 illegals being toed into port by the border force from 8am to 11am.”

“They were so busy they didn’t get the time to unload one boatload before another arrived,” he added.

“My sources told me it as over 100 after I had left. I saw 3 coaches parked waiting since 8am. It almost seems like it was pre planned.”

French navy vessels are escorting migrant boats into British waters, where they are then handed over to British border authorities who provide the illegal aliens a de facto taxi service and free residency while they prepare asylum claims. Migrants pay criminal people smugglers thousands of pounds to reach Europe, dispelling the idea that they are destitute.

“More than double the number of migrants have landed in the first eight months of 2020 (nearly 3,950) than the whole of 2019 (1,850). Migration Watch UK has warned that more than 7,500 could land by Christmas,” reports Breitbart.

Lebanese officials ‘do not expect’ to find survivors in Beirut rubble, Russian rescue team says, as death toll reportedly hits 220

A first-response team from Russia has finished looking for survivors of powerful blasts in Beirut. They say Lebanese officials don’t think anyone is still alive under the rubble, while the death toll has jumped from 158 to 220.

“Representatives of Lebanon’s Defense Ministry… officially stated that they are no longer expecting to find anyone alive under the rubble,” Russia’s Emergencies Ministry spokesperson told the media. He added that the Russian team had recovered six bodies during its work in Beirut and treated more than 90 injured.

The Russian team arrived in Lebanon's capital to help with the relief effort after two powerful explosions at Beirut’s port sent a shockwave that devastated much of the city on Tuesday.

Beirut Governor Marwan Abboud was quoted by the media as saying on Sunday that the death toll from the disaster has grown to 220, while 110 more are still unaccounted for.

Officials linked the blasts to a massive stash of ammonium nitrate, a highly-explosive chemical used in bombs and fertilizers, stored in a warehouse in the city’s port. However, the exact cause of the explosions is yet to be determined.

Shrage brought an audiotape interview he had with Halper back in early 2017. This was just days before a huge hit piece was published by the Washington Post deep state stenographers. Shrage thought it was interesting that Halper knew about General Flynn’s upcoming problems before anything was published in the news.

Steven Shrage also added that Halper bragged that David Ignatius was one of his press media contacts. Shrage added, “So it seems to me that this is something that needs to be investigated.”

Cotton: TikTok Like a ‘Trojan Horse’ on American Cell Phones

Sunday, during an appearance on Fox News Channel’s “Sunday Morning Futures,” Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) discussed the threat to American national security concerns by Chinese-owned TikTok.

Cotton called the social media application a “Trojan horse” on cell phones.

“TikTok is like a Trojan horse on American cell phones,” he said. “And that’s why I commend the president for taking the action to ban TikTok in America if it is not wholly owned and operated by an American parent company. I encouraged the administration about a year ago to conduct the security review that ultimately led to this decision. That’s because, to most Americans, TikTok seems like a harmless, fun, short-form video app, but behind that app on your phone is a vacuum of data of everything on your device, contacts, e-mails, text messages, photographs, social media posts, even browser history, keystrokes, and location data.

“That all goes back to servers in China, where it can be accessed by the Chinese Communist Party for decades to come,” Cotton continued. “That’s why, if TikTok is going to operate in the United States, it has to have an American parent and be wholly owned and operated, not just the servers and the data, but all of the source code, the algorithms, the engineers. There can be no lingering ties to China. And I think we have to be reasonably skeptical about any American companies to do that. They have to demonstrate, to the satisfaction of the U.S. government, that they can sever all those ties. Otherwise, these software companies will have to be banned in America, for the safety and the privacy of Americans, especially our kids.”

YouTube Censors Live Action’s Pro-Life Video – 4 Years After It Was Posted

Google-owned YouTube deleted a pro-life video with 1.8 million views posted by the pro-life organization, Live Action, four years after it was posted. The social media platform later reinstated the video after the organization appealed Google’s censorship.

“JUST NOW: @YOUTUBE has DELETED one of Live Action’s Abortion Procedures videos,” tweeted the pro-life organization on Friday. “The video is presented by a former abortionist. Has been seen 1.8 million times. And has been live since 2016. This is dangerous & unacceptable, @TeamYouTube.”

“THIS is the video @YouTube deleted,” added the founder and president of Live Action, Lila Rose. “This educational video has saved countless lives & spreads the TRUTH.”

In the video, Dr. Anthony Levatino, a former abortionist, explains the truth about what goes into different abortion procedures.

“The video was just reinstated, but YouTube is not explaining why it was initially taken down,” tweeted Rose an hour later. “Last year they temporarily removed our undercover footage showing [Planned Parenthood] aiding sex traffickers, claiming it was a ‘mistake.'”

Rose continued by asking why it appears that YouTube keeping making so-called “mistakes” when it comes to the pro-life organization’s content.

“Why do these ‘mistakes’ keep happening to us, @TeamYouTube?” she added.

Lebanese information minister announces resignation amid massive anti-government protests in Beirut

Lebanon's Information Minister Manal Abdel Samad has stepped down from her post within the embattled government. The news comes as Beirut is gripped by protests following a deadly port explosion.

In a televized address, Samad apologized for failing to meet the “aspirations” of the Lebanese people and called for “unity” as the country recovers from the catastrophic explosion that ripped through Beirut.

“I submit my resignation from the government, wishing for our beloved country Lebanon to recover as soon as possible, and to follow the path of unity, independence and prosperity,” she said.

An estimated 10,000 anti-government demonstrators gathered in the center of the Lebanese capital on Saturday. The protesters later tried storming the parliament building but were repelled by security forces using tear gas and rubber bullets. Hundreds were injured in the clashes, and a police officer was killed. Military personnel were deployed after demonstrators forced their way into numerous government offices, including the Foreign Ministry, the Ministry of Economy and Trade, the Ministry of Environment, and the Water and Energy Ministry.

Many in Lebanon believe that government negligence led to the massive ammonium nitrate explosion on Tuesday, which killed more than 150 people and caused vast destruction to the city.

Twitter Considers Merger with Communist China’s TikTok

A new report suggests that social media giants TikTok and Twitter may join forces in the United States. The rumor comes just days after President Trump announced that the China-based TikTok would have 45 days to negotiate a merger or acquisition agreement with an American company to avoid sanctions.

According to a report by the Wall Street Journal, TikTok and Twitter are discussing a possible merger that would protect TikTok from sanctions in the United States. Prior to the report, Microsoft was considered to be the American company that was most likely to merge with TikTok, with many experts saying Microsoft is still the leading contender.

According to the Journal, “Because it is much smaller, Twitter has reasoned that it would be unlikely to face the same level of antitrust scrutiny as Microsoft or other potential bidders, said people familiar with the discussions.” The report also claims that Twitter will likely require a partner to fund the merger activity. The company recently disclosed to investors that it could face a fine of up to $250 million from FTC for misuse of private user info for advertising purposes.

Some privacy analysts had expressed concern that TikTok fails to protect the private user data of its American users from prying communist party eyes. In response to the concerns, President Trump announced plans to ban TikTok from the United States outright.

“We’re looking at TikTok, we may be banning TikTok, we may be doing some other things, there are a couple of options,” Trump said on July 31. “A lot of things are happening so we’ll see what happens. We are looking at a lot of alternatives with respect to TikTok. President Trump ultimately decided that he would give TikTok 45 days to merge with an American company.

In a blog post published on August 2, Microsoft announced that it had entered preliminary discussions with TikTok and its parent company.

“Microsoft will move quickly to pursue discussions with TikTok’s parent company, ByteDance, in a matter of weeks, and in any event completing these discussions no later than September 15, 2020. During this process, Microsoft looks forward to continuing dialogue with the United States Government, including with the President,” Microsoft wrote in the post.

To quell data privacy concerns, Microsoft also claimed that they would work to ensure that all of TikTok’s data for American users would remain in the United States.

“Among other measures, Microsoft would ensure that all private data of TikTok’s American users is transferred to and remains in the United States,” the post continues. “To the extent that any such data is currently stored or backed-up outside the United States, Microsoft would ensure that this data is deleted from servers outside the country after it is transferred.”

France Blackmails Britain for £30m to Stop Illegal Boat Migrants: Report

The French are reportedly demanding £30 million in exchange for allowing the British navy to return illegal boat migrants who departed from France’s shores.

A total of 516 illegal migrants have crossed the English Channel in just three days, with 151 arriving on Saturday, 130 on Friday, and a daily record of 235 on Thursday. The British government has officially requested that the military support UK Border Force, with the Home Office considering an Australia-style “push back” to reject migrant boats at sea.

Sources speaking to The Telegraph on Sunday said that Defence Secretary Ben Wallace and Home Secretary Priti Patel are considering deploying the navy to turn back the boats, and well as using drones in deterring illegal landings on England’s cost.

The plan, set to be put to the French government, will mean sending back the illegal aliens immediately to Dunkirk in Northern France, rather than attempting to return them after they have already landed in Britain. Reports claimed that just one in 40 illegal Channel migrants who had arrived on English soil had been successfully returned to France since January 2019.

However, it will come at a price, with the French set to demand £30 million to pay for increased patrols along the French coast. Government sources said ministers are “livid” over the request, with one telling The Times that it was “demanding money with menaces”. Another accused Paris of trying to “milk” London while the number of illegal landings spins out of control.

Thousands more maskless bikers have descended on a small town in South Dakota and crowded into bars ignoring social distancing rules.

Bikers began arriving in Sturgis, South Dakota, Friday and continued to drive into the city on Saturday for one of the biggest motorcycle rallies in the world.

The city of 7,000 usually sees an influx of around half a million bikers for the 10-day event although this year 250,000 are expected amid the pandemic.

Mark Carstensen, mayor of Sturgis, South Dakota, said he was determined to encourage 'personal responsibility'.

He said his team had set up sanitation stations and given out masks - although face coverings were not required.

'We cannot stop people from coming,' he told CNN on Thursday, ahead of the annual event which has run for 80 years.

Health officials are still warning against even small gatherings, and states with relatively low spread - such as South Dakota - are ordering visitors from hot spots to self-quarantine.

No restrictions are in place for the start of the 10-day jamboree, however.

Kanye West removed from Illinois Presidential ballot after nearly 2,000 invalid signatures discovered

On Saturday (Aug. 8), TMZ reported 'Ye's name will be taken off the ballot in his home state of Illinois after more than half the signatures on his petition were deemed invalid. According to the report, Kanye's team submitted 3,128 signatures. More than the 2,500 that are required by the state for one's name to make the cut. However, 1,928 were reportedly flagged as invalid.

A number of factors could be the reason for the signatures not being counted including illegible names, people signing up who are not registered voters or people providing fakes names or addresses. Kanye's name will be removed from the ballot on Aug. 21. This news comes following reports that his petition to get on the ballot in Illinois had been challenged by the Illinois Board of Elections on July 28.

Kanye's slimmer than slim chances of being the 46th Commander in Chief continue to dwindle. Following a controversial presidential campaign rally in South Carolina, he failed to make the ballot in that state. There are also a few states that he has already missed the ballot deadline. Yet, the rap star remains confident. Last month, he claimed he could beat Joe Biden via write-in votes.

Host Chris Wallace countered that Trump made the announcement amid an extended impasse over the next round of coronavirus relief in Congress.

Pelosi defended Democratic leaders’ efforts in the negotiations, saying they had offered compromises.

“What the president does doesn’t even accomplish anything he sets out to do in the categories he did, but we said to [Republicans], we’ll come down a trillion [dollars], you come up a trillion [dollars], and we’ll be able to have an agreement that meets the needs of the American people,” she said.

“We have to reach an agreement. Children are food insecure. Families are at the risk of being evicted. The virus is moving like a freight train,” Pelosi added. “The kindest thing I could say is he doesn’t know what he’s talking about or something’s wrong there — something’s very, very wrong.”

Pelosi added that to characterize the proposed executive actions, which reportedly include a smaller temporary federal unemployment benefit and a nationwide payroll tax cut, “as even accomplishing what they set out to do, something that would take the place of an agreement, is just not so.”

Pelosi also addressed reports that the intelligence community has found Russia intends to interfere in the 2020 elections and that China prefers former Vice President Joe Biden, the presumptive Democratic nominee.

“We have written to say, you have to release the information. The American people need to know what the Russians are doing in this case,” Pelosi said. She also criticized the grouping together of active Russian interference and Chinese preferences in the assessment.

“[China] is not really getting involved in the presidential election,” she said. “I take second place to no one on my criticism of China, but for them to give some equivalence is not telling the whole story.”

HHS Chief Alex Azar Lands In Taiwan For "Historic" Visit As Beijing Slams US "Betrayal"

Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar arrived in Taiwan on Sunday, marking the Trump Administration's latest direct challenge to the "One China" policy that has served as the bedrock for the US-China bilateral relationship since the early 1970s.

Azar is the first cabinet-level official to visit Taiwan in six years, and the highest level US official to visit the island since 1979.

To be sure, Trump has been undermining the policy, which dictates that Taiwan is merely a wayward province of the PRC, which is autonomous - for the time being. But in early 2019, President Xi declared during a historic speech to the Party, and the Chinese people, that Taiwan would be brought back under Beijing's sway, either by diplomacy, or violence, if need be. And any foreign powers who get int the way of that risk invoking the wrath of the Chinese people.

Beijing has already protested Azar's visit as a betrayal of America's commitments not to have official contact with Taiwan.

Antifa were filmed getting pummeled and thrown into a ditch on Saturday after a fight broke out at a pro-police rally in a residential neighborhood in Fort Collins, Colorado.

Antifa terrorists last month showed up to another pro-police rally and attacked Michelle Malkin and other patriots without provocation while police were ordered by their commander to "retreat."

There was fears antifa would try the same stunt at this rally over the weekend but instead they ended up in a ditch and several leftists were reportedly arrested.

Evidence Is Mounting That Governor Cuomo Is Targeting Bars That Criticize Him for Suspension

A week after starting a petition calling for Governor Andrew Cuomo to reverse New York’s mandate requiring that a substantial amount of food must be served with any alcohol purchase, Abby Ehmann, the owner of East Village dive bar Lucky, found out her liquor license was suspended.

“Ehmann says that two State Liquor Authority representatives visited the bar on Monday night at 8 p.m. to observe if the bar’s eight customers had ordered food with their drinks,” according to Eater New York. “After the visit, Ehmann received her first warning from the SLA on a piece of paper that did not list out the specific violations, she says. Shortly afterward, and with no further warnings, Lucky’s liquor license was suspended.”

“No other safety measures were inspected or questioned,” Ehmann told Eater New York. “Also, no other bars or restaurants in close proximity to mine received this inspection, causing me to believe that I was intentionally targeted for selective enforcement by the Governor and State Liquor Authority.”

“I exercised my First Amendment right by petitioning my government for a redress of grievances,” Ehmann said. “I believe that this same government has selectively enforced the law I’m working to change as retaliation.”

This is now the second bar that is accusing Governor Cuomo of retaliating against it for opposing his mandate.

Last month, The Village Line in Kenmore, New York, mocked Governor Cuomo’s mandates with a satirical menu called “NYS Safe Menu” that spelled out an obscenity and Cuomo’s name in its list of food offerings to comply with the mandate. The menu went viral and the bar’s liquor license was suspended over social distancing violations the bar says never happened.

The managers at The Village Line say they were targeted because of their satirical menu. “Cuomo and his administration undoubtedly targeted The Village Line, with the goal of intimidating business owners and individuals with a clear, explicit threat: comply with the Governor’s orders and virtue-signaling, or risk losing your economic livelihood,” Chris Gardella, the bar’s owner, told PJ Media.

“Social distancing guidelines were followed at all times at The Village Line. Hand sanitizer was made available to guests, and proper signage with social distancing guidelines were posted on the door before entry was allowed,” Gardella explained. “Our customers are our family, and there’s nothing more important than protecting the health of our community.”

Ehmann’s bar, Lucky, is now shut down while the suspension is in effect. “It remains to be [seen] whether I will be issued a $10,000 fine or suffer the permanent seizure of my liquor license, which will result in the devastating forcible closure of my business,” she said.

Israeli Army Claims Recent Infiltration Attempts In Golan Heights Was Plotted By Iran

The cell that was targeted by the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) on the separation line with Syria in the Golan Heights on August 2 was linked to Iran, Lt. Gen. Aviv Kochavi, Chief of General Staff of the IDF, announced on August 9.

Lt. Gen. Kochavi revealed the information in a meeting with soldiers from Unit 212, “Sayeret Maglan,” which uncovered the cell and prevented it from planting explosive devices on the separation line.
