A lot of NG units are specially trained in police activity, guarding prisoners in particular.
AFAIK, the Marines don't have such units and their base security is provided by the Navy Shore Patrol.

Probably not good to mention prisoner security. Even so, base security entails any outbreaks/escape attempts. Liked I said, I thought that Navy Shore Patrol would handle base security, but maybe they're up to their asses in alligators other places, stretched thin with DS attempts at military installations around the world, so the NG supplements them at Gitmo.
