Very interesting recap. TY! And, just to think that all of that tripe, all of those twisted beliefs came about b/c they were taking scripture out of context, & out of 1st audience perspective.
Consider the use of "last days" and "latter days" in scripture were defined by God as the last days of the blood line tribes of Israel, and the last days of the Mosaic animal sacrificial temple in Jerusalem.
Gen. 49:1 - Jacob's blessing to his sons: the patriarchs of each tribe - "and I declare to you that which doth happen with you in the latter end of the days." (YLT) He foretold how each of the tribes would end.
Critical element - Gen. 49:10 re: Judah - "The sceptre turneth not aside from Judah, And a lawgiver from between his feet, Till his Seed come; And his [is] the obedience of peoples." (YLT)
When did the sceptre of the law giver pass from Judah to Christ ? - 1st century AD.
1 Pet. 1:20, " foreknown, indeed, before the foundation of the world, and manifested in the last times because of you," (YLT)
When was Christ manifested on earth? 1st cent. AD ? So, when were the "last times"? 1sts cent. AD.
Critical thinking, critical analysis skills must be employed when reading the scriptures. Many have built entire religious followings on falsely construed and misused scriptures. The last days were 2,000 years ago when Jerusalem and the temple were destroyed in AD 70. That was the 2nd appearance of Christ (Heb. 9:28) prophesied for that generation that had seen His 1st appearance. No other generation than those of the 1st cent. AD could have a 2nd appearance of Him, as no other generation saw His 1st appearance.
