That "Die is Cast" write up is very well done to whoever did that.
Herodotus was convinced that the Carthaginian port that existed during his lifetime (which was of course long before Rome) was a former colony of "the progenitor group of us all". The only other time he makes mention of that subject is when he was discussing the ancients in Egypt and the High Priest from Egypt corrects him when he (Herodotus) stated Egypt was the oldest. The High Priest told him that the oldest group in their modern memory, which "far exceeds the age" of even Egypt was "what was then known as the Phrygians". But he (the High Priest) also explains that the Phrygians were only the offspring of the "true progenitor of man".
So as far as Carthage is concerned it appears it became a Phoenician colony but was originally a colony to the "progenitor" group, whoever that was is up for speculation of course as nobody really knows for certain and can only theorize.
