A professor who served as an FBI informant during the investigation of the Trump campaign told one of his students in early 2017 that incoming national security adviser Michael Flynn was not “going to be around long,” according to audio that the student published Sunday.

Steven Schrage, a former Bush administration official, released audio of a conversation he had on Jan. 10, 2017, with Stefan Halper, the FBI informant.

In the audio file, which Schrage included in an essay published by journalist Matt Taibbi, Halper is heard saying that he doubted that Flynn would last long in the Trump administration.

“If you go to the [National Security Council], you have to consider very carefully if you feel it’s appropriate for you to work for Flynn. I don’t think Flynn’s going to be around long. That’s just my guess,” Halper told Schrage, according to the audio recording

Republican Senator Subpoenas FBI Director Chris Wray Over Crossfire Hurricane

(CNSNews.com) – Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), the chairman of the Homeland Security Committee, on Monday subpoenaed FBI Director Chris Wray to appear before the committee next week:

“You are hereby commanded to appear before the Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs of the Senate of the United States, on August 20, 2020, at 5:00 p.m., at its committee room,” the subpoena says.

Further, Wray is ordered to produce “then and there” all records related to the Crossfire Hurricane investigation.

This is not the first request for Director Wray to produce records, although it is the first time the committee has done so via subpoena.

Nearly 200 police officers swarmed the offices of Apple Daily, one of Hong Kong’s most-read anti-communist newspapers, on Monday, arresting owner Jimmy Lai, two of his sons, and several other staffers.

Lai, arrested twice already in 2020 for his opposition to Chinese communism, will now reportedly face charges under the “national security” law passed illegally through Beijing’s parliament in May. The law commands a minimum of ten years in prison for anyone found guilty of “terrorism,” “secessionist” crimes, enabling “foreign interference,” or “subverting” state power. As Lai is currently 72 years old, he faces spending the majority of the rest of his life behind bars.
