I think the time has arrived for the people to start talking about „bigger“ Questions again.
Most of us, or at least most of our parents grew up in an environment where religious dogmata were still the most widespread and detailed “responses“ to people asking
>Who are we?
>Where do we come from?
>Where are we going?
Where do we want to go?
In which manner do our actions influence our direction?
Can we, consciously or „unconsciously“, collectively or personally, choose where we go?
And such questions.
I would argue that in the past few decades, especially in Christian countries, not following religious behavior protocol has become substantially less socially punishing.
I believe this is the result of most people not getting a proper education of the purpose and true message of the bible. This weakened version of religious belief is easily turned into nihilism/atheism or agnosticism by the evils of the world and apparent paradoxes between Religion and Science, which is far more popular.
Science is taught in more detail to more people compared to spiritual education in most schools and is often used as a topic in conversation to ridicule religious people. Social shaming is a very driving factor in decision making.
This has resulted in millions of people believing that our current state of knowledge in science is the furthest we, as a race have advanced in understanding ourselves and the world around us.
Together, we could bridge the gap and show people that both are equally important.
Reaching public consensus on legal and moral values has to happen soon, as it will keep weakening the fabric of our society as we are living in a perpetual Status Quo.
