They were playing all those games with all those D candidates all through 2019, and when Bernie was still the clear favorite, Biden got stuck in at the very last minute.
He said he was going to quit the race after a debate where he bombed, and it was down to Warren, Gabbard, Sanders, Bloomberg (remember him?), Harris, and I think Mayor Pete.
Then Pete dropped out, Harris, then Warren, silently Gabbard, and Bloomberg last (IIRC) and when it was clear Bernie was going to win Super Tuesday, here comes Biden.
Very late insertion after he was quiet for a while.
Democrat constituents had already decided they didn't want him up there (it showed in the polls), and suddenly he ended up winning all the delegates on Super Tuesday (3/3/20).
It was a total switcheroo, which happens to Liberals all the time.
It was supposed to be Bernie (again).
