A house divided against itself, cannot stand."

I do not expect the Union to be dissolved — I do not expect the house to fall — but I do expect it will cease to be divided.

It will become all one thing or all the other.”

A few excerpts from President Lincoln’s “House Divided Speech” after accepting the Republican Party’s nomination for Senator of Illinois. He was speaking on the divisive issue of slavery. It was 1858, and this speech was a bit of foreshadowing to say the least. For obvious reasons, this short yet potent speech once again rings true for the immediate future of our country. No matter what you believe or what side of the proverbial “line in the sand” you stand on, you can bet your ass we’re about to witness this nation become all one thing, or all the other. How can we continue divided as we are?

As hard as it is for this anon to watch, the only thing we can do is…

Pray.

God bless.
