#DYK On this day in 1982, U.S. Coast Guard vessels escorted the nation's first Ohio-class ballistic-missile submarine, #USSOhio (SSBN 726), into its homeport at Naval Submarine Base Bangor. USS Ohio, along with #USSMichigan, #USSFlorida and #USSGeorgia, was later converted to a guided-missile submarine (SSGN) capable of carrying Tomahawks or other payloads in lieu of ballistic missiles. #OneTeam #OneFight
